We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharda King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharda, why did you pursue a creative career?
Honestly, I’ve always been creative. I just got tired of working for companies that didn’t challenge me creatively or mentally. Providing a customer with what they envision their brand to be or even a single particular custom item for someone and to see the joy it brings them…. That in turn, provides me with happiness because I was able to help them bring their vision to apparel, to reality. It’s a dope feeling.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

We at KP Production have been blessed with so many opportunities that allowed us to get the business “out of the mud.” What has been the main factor that has set us apart is the ability to raise the bar, set better standards, and provide A1 quality work across the board. Getting into apparel production there are endless possibilities that many don’t know about. We do not just print, we bring your ideas and visions to life. Not too many companies can be confident in saying they always deliver exactly what the customer wanted and they are ecstatic with the work, KP Production can.

Doing what we do as far as the creative part was not easy but turning something I loved into something that could make consistent money was challenging. Ultimately, starting KP has evolved into something else as well. We have also turned into a hub that helps people learn the craft so that they can make money. This came about with Covid. With so many scared and losing their jobs, we successfully put a plan into place to bring employees in to teach them the trade so they were not confined to the financial restrictions Covid was providing. That has been a pivotal experience for us to provide a skill that has no limitations. Tell me that is not a beautiful thing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friends were to come to San Diego, we would definitely recommend going to sunset cliffs. I’ve lived in NY a good portion of my life and there is something so peaceful about being next to a coastline. The most beautiful and serene opportunities that SD provides. a good night out? SD is known for its Hookah Lounges that boast many different flavors to dive into while you also can have a drink and food. A good place for that would be the Mist in downtown SD. Eating, id recommend the Crab House or Fogo’s Steakhouse. You really cannot go wrong with Seafood or Mexican Food in San Diego.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to shout out and give much appreciation to Harper Consulting Group. They have been council to us from the beginning. They have provided so much support from day 1 from business consulting to providing moral support when starting a new business. They saw the dream, saw the vision, and knew the type of person that wanted to chase after this dream and they believed in us more than anything. If it was not for them, with any small business when things get hard, they have always kept our minds focused because what we are building here is something special.
