We had the good fortune of connecting with Shalene Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shalene, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be one of kindness, empathy, and positive impact. I hope that people will remember me for how I made them feel—whether it was through offering support, listening, or helping them grow. I’d like to be remembered as someone who made a difference in the lives of others, even in small ways, and who always tried to make the world a little bit better through my actions and words. Ultimately, I hope that my legacy encourages others to live authentically, care deeply, and be mindful of the impact they have on the world around them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We have successfully assisted a multitude of families with both temporary and long term housing. We have built a food and clothing closet at Sweetwater High school for unhoused students and their families if applicable. We have dedicated our work to assist with ending youth homelessness and provide mentorship so after high school they have a plan for success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would for sure hit up Red Wing in North Park for karaoke, grab some drinks and learn a line dance or two at Moonshine Flats. Catch a Padres Game, grab tacos from Tacos El Gordo and head to Niederfrank’s Ice Cream in National City for the best homemade scoop. Gotta hit the staples like Balboa Park, Hillcrest, Pacific Beach and Normal Heights for some great hole in the wall spots.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Sherry and Roy Gogue who are the founders of Adrian’s Way nonprofit. Without their vision and dedication to helping people Adrian’s Way wouldn’t be as successful as we have been.
