We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Loeffler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from Hermosa Beach California. My father was an LAPD helicopter cop after being a street cop for two decades. My mother was a Catholic school secretary. And I had a twin sister name Kim. I believe that growing up in Los Angeles had a giant impact on myself because I got to see true entrepreneurship. Being born in 1982 and growing up after Reaganomics really showed me what a self-made person could do with a little bit of motivation. People were investing when I grew up, people were starting their own companies, and people were thriving in the markets of the early 90s. My father had a few of his own businesses and my mother did the same and followed suit into both of them having side companies aside from their careers. It’s funny because I grew up going to Pennywise punk rock shows and then listening to the guys literally of NWA rap and underground venues. I saw both worlds from law-enforcement to gangster and how one thing that was interchangeable was all the individuals goals into improving their financial standing. I believe growing up middle class and getting to see both sides of the coin made it easier for me to make a decision to yearn for more for this yearly as I began to get older and more mature. At one point I was living in the janitors closet of the Compound gym that I now on and have expanded to other locations. I know what hard work is besides my parents and the original owners of the compound Claudia and frank retired from my opportunities and relished to take advantage of them. On a little ancillary note we are opening a new Norcal location that’s an extension of the compound that the moniker will be compound north but known as Reality Fitness in Seaside California. So if you’re traveling up the coast ever make sure you stop by and say hi.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was signed to the UFC, I have fought on NBC in Bellator, As well as the biggest boxing and MMA organizations around the world. Being a professional fighter and either a ring or cage gave me the tenacity to never stop with the compound. The thing that sets us apart from other training facilities first of all our coaches are bad none The best on the planet. Secondly our facility is a hard-core real fight Gym feel that you will not get anywhere else. We are also 24 hours and literally give a key to have access to a million training facility. Lastly our attitude is it sets us apart from other gyms we train like it matters check out our website look at our credentials and become part of the team. We have had so many challenges ups and downs but we have overcome. We always overcome. We as human beings have this expectation of things coming full circle but me full circle means they start one place and end up there with a compound do not make a circle but a straight line with a horizontal trajectory to the top of the world. And that’s where I plan on bringing my team, my employees, my members, and my athletes. To the very summit of Mount Everest and then jumping up with a yardstick so we are literally higher than anyone else has ever been lol. If you’ve ever been through anything tough in life you know that the phrase what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger is an exactly true. What doesn’t kill you just doesn’t kill you. But I can tell you this if it doesn’t kill you you’re still alive so let’s fight together.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When someone’s coming into Oceanside California there’s a few places that I would say you need to check out. And I will include surrounding areas to make the trip a little bit more complete. One should definitely start off at a simple stroll down the Oceanside pier it’s a generic answer but what makes you feel more part of a San Diego lifestyle if you’re from out of the area then walking out on a wooden pier into the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Obviously things like the Oceanside art museum and the local playhouse are staples to come check out. I would also try to go for a hike at Lake Calavera literally of Volcano Lake, take a stroll around Lake San Marcos as well it’s like a gorgeous little western European city in our own North County area. But I’m a sucker for water features lol. Lastly go check out barrio glassworks in Carlsbad it’s an adorable glass art gallery and you can even blow some glass and make some paper weights, glass shells, or anything your heart desires with expert artists. Oh wait… You got to come by the Compound as well ha ha Ha. Watch the guys spar hard Saturdays at 12 noon if you wanna see some kick ass fighters getting into it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Claudia and Frank Ortega as I mentioned before would be a huge contributor and by far the most important contributors to where I’m at today. They are literally the people that turned a business over to me and told me to make it succeed. If I had to refer to business influences my number one would buy far be Richard Branson and his book losing my virginity. That book changed my outlook on a persons potential for financial success. I could go on for hours about his inspiration over me but I think people should just look in to who he has for themselves it’s an awesome exploration. I also most definitely look up to Henry David Thoreau far my favorite author and then mine boggling citizen of altering a youth’s views using angst and literary genius to cause an abrupt change your mindset for anyone that divulges and his works such as Walden. Lastly, I also am inspired by the compound even though it’s my business I watch it as it’s own entity grow and mature and become things that I cannot imagine.
