We had the good fortune of connecting with scott bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi scott, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Tree-Rolls Hemp Company was founded as a premium hemp brand with a mission centered around sustainability and giving back. As a 1-for-1 company, we plant one tree for every product sold, helping with reforestation and creating sustainable food sources and building materials for communities in need. Our goal is to help make the world a greener place and improve the quality of life for as many people as possible.

With the help of our customers and community, we’ve planted over 65,000 trees to date, with no plans on slowing down anytime soon.

Prior to launch, we searched out partners that we felt were making an impact and helping to drive change. We decided to team up with Trees for the Future (Trees.org), based on their track record and sustainability efforts. We’re excited to continue expanding on the partnership and plant more trees!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It all started with an idea, back in 2012 – to create the country’s first pack of pre-rolled joints.

At the time, I was working as a Regional Manager for a distributor of hops to craft breweries. After a job transfer to San Diego, CA, I discovered that medical cannabis was legal and took a trip down to the local dispensaries. It was very apparent that there was nearly no branding in the industry at the time, and no one was making a quality pre-roll product.

After spending months on the business plan, we began working on creating the first manufacturing equipment in the industry to manufacture pre-rolled joints. It was a long, painstaking process, but we discovered a unique process that we knew would change the industry quality standards for good.

Expanding on our equipment (now patent-pending), we launched one of the first packs of pre-rolled joints on the market, and expanded into white-label manufacturing/co-packing services with our company Pineworx.

Once hemp was legalized via the 2018 Farm Bill, we expanded our services into the hemp market, and launched a new consumer product brand called Tree-Rolls Hemp Company. Our products are distributed nationwide to convenience stores and can also be found on our website www.treerolls.com.

We’re proud to say sets us apart is the quality of our manufacturing process. We can humbly say that our technology and processes create the finest packed pre-rolls on the market. This is what has opened the door for us to manufacture products for many of the top brands in the industry.

As for the path to get here, let’s just say that it has not exactly been smooth sailing the entire journey. We ran into trademark issues early on, losing our first brand (Jay’s Pre-Rolls) to a tobacco company, dealt with shady partners in the cannabis space, lost a boatload of inventory during cannabis packaging regulatory changes, and a range of other challenges.

What we’ve learned is you have to stay nimble and ready to pivot at any time. There are so many outside factors that can affect your business and you just have to keep pushing forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved down to San Diego from Washington State in 2012 and I’m still discovering new, amazing things to do all the time. Definitely start by taking a trip up the coast. There are some cool beach towns and there’s a very different vibe between the different areas of the county.

If you’re in the downtown area and want to try out some of the best tacos around, make the trip down to Tacos El Gordo

Balboa park is beautiful and has a lot of cool things to check out.

If you want to try out surfing, there’s some great spots in Ocean Beach by Sunset Cliffs. Or, depending on the season, you can head over to La Jolla Cove and swim with sharks and all sorts of marine life.

Check out Gaslamp district downtown if you’re looking for a night out on the town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off, I am beyond thankful for our customers. We wouldn’t be here, and we wouldn’t be planting trees without you!

In regards to my career path, there are so many people that have helped out along the way.
My family, first and foremost. Always supporting me, even when I broke the news that I would be leaving my career to create cannabis and hemp brands – or attempting to create the country’s first pre-roll manufacturing equipment (many moons ago).

Our team – We have a solid team, and our founders and employees are driven and passionate about what they do. Many of us have been working together for nearly a decade.
