We had the good fortune of connecting with Savanna + Liz Smith + Myrick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savanna + Liz, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We have always been interested in wine and thought taking a wine 101 class would be fun. When we asked a question about the aromas in one of the wines, the teacher rolled his eyes at us! After being in that class, we decided to teach ourselves about wine and create a community where young people can get together and learn while also having fun …. after all, we are getting a little tipsy at the end of the day!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are content creators and educators!

We have a media brand called Sip Sluts that creates a community of women around drinking culture and education. Our subbrand, Overpoured + Screwed, is specifically educational and fun around wine. We give pairings, advice, and funny content around wine to destigmatize the industry.

We both had always been interested in entertainment. In fact, we both worked in various areas of the entertainment industry. When the pandemic hit, we started to reevaluate our careers as well as our business. As we received more and more positive feedback about our content, we realized there was a huge potential to monetize our page and create something bigger.

Now, we’re more driven than ever! We’re both currently working on various alcohol-related certifications to continue to expand our knowledge and share that knowledge with others. We have a lot of exciting plans for our future, and we can’t wait to see them come to fruition.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, we are best friends so here is where we would go together!

We would start our day with a morning at Griffith park and then brunch at Home in Los Feliz. Once we had enough of the blood orange mimosas, we would go shopping at the Grove. When a little shopping break is needed, we would end at the Fountain Bar at the Grove for a nice pick-me-up dry rose and a Fountain Spritz.

Then we would go home and take a necessary nap; Savanna would make espresso martinis to start the night off. For dinner, we would head to Bari on 3rd street. We recently reviewed this place on our Spit or Swallow, so check it out on our Instagram @sipsluts & @overpouredandscrewed.

If we have enough energy for a nightcap, we would head to Blue Collar to get drinks paired with a great ambiance. This place does not have a menu, so you tell the bartender what you usually drink, and he or she will come up with what they think is best! We recently reviewed this place in our Spit or Swallow too!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My (Liz) mentor and boss, Caitlin V, deserves this shoutout. She has her own online business of her passion for sex coaching and pleasure positivity. She has pushed and mentored me to create a business with my passion for wine!
