Meet Sascha & Sibylle Ploder | The Cheese Guys

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sascha & Sibylle Ploder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sascha & Sibylle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
From our point of view the most important factor behind the success of our brand The Raclette Stand is that we are serving the most traditional and delicious melted cheese dish from Switzerland in a very authentic and personable way. The appearance of our food stand set-up is truly unique with our catchy logo and design and we are proudly representing a small artisan Swiss creamery which produces extraordinary Raclette cheese.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a young company and the role as business owners is new to us too. So there’s still a lot to learn for us, almost on a daily basis. But we are proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, only after a bit more than a year that we moved from Switzerland to San Diego. Being in the operational business for some month now, we can already tell that we could do a pop-up with our food stand at most of our favorite breweries. We could recently add our first set-up at a local winery to that list and we also like to explore the different farmer’s markets.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best thing about San Diego is its multicultural and natural diversity. To discover the international eats and a neighborhood with a very special vibe we’d suggest a visit at the farmer’s market in Ocean Beach, where you could end the night after the beach drumming session in one of the many local brewery taprooms. When it comes to the natural beauty of San Diego there are many great hiking areas on offer, for example the climbs around Lake Poway and Iron Mountain or the beautiful Los Penasquitos Canyon County Preserve. We also love to visit the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido, where you could find some amazing wineries along the San Pasqual Valley as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d love to give a shoutout to our great artwork creator Fede Saviñón, owner of the beer lover’s brand Hoppy Beer Hoppy Life in San Diego. When we first met him – in a brewery of course – he immediately caught our logo idea and was able to turn it into a brilliant existence. Through him we also got this closer and intimate look behind the local craft brewing scene, of which we are both passionate and fascinated about as well.
