We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Showing up and doing the work. I know we like to think the answer is more complicated or exciting than that. But the real growth in a business comes from figuring out what needs to happen next to move you closer toward your goal and then getting that shit done. Doing the work when you’re tired, when it’s not fun, when you aren’t really seeing results yet. Showing up with enthusiasm even when only two people are paying attention. And I know that from personal experience because literally only two people showed up for my first live broadcast, but now when I host a workshop hundreds of people show up and watch. Most people give up because the road there isn’t always fun or easy, but success is inevitable if you just keep going!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a marketing coach and educator teaching business owners to simplify their marketing and show up with confidence online. My students and clients like to call me their no-bullshit business BFF. The world of online business has blown up over the last year and I love helping people take their business online and learn to attract customers and clients with things like social media, podcasting, video, and email. I’ve been creating, designing, and selling online since 1997. Who knew my teenage hobby would turn into a career? But it did! And fun-fact, I have an Emmy (like the real gold statue) for web design which is my most random accomplishment to date!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question because one of my favorite things to do is eat my way through the city! I’d take them for breakfast, brunch and lunch at the Hillcrest farmers market, shopping at Pigment and SDRC, then up to Mt. Soledad to check out the view, tacos at Ray’s in Northpark, a few hours at Scripps Beach (just down from La Jolla Shores and waaaay quieter), and then top it off with ice cream at Stella Jean’s.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My amazing students and clients who light me up every day and keep me motivated and excited to do the work!
