Meet Ryen Toft

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryen Toft and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryen, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Simply Luxe came from both a deep passion and a practical need – but the seeds were planted much earlier. My grandparents were the most organized people I’ve ever met. They moved countless times – often with babies in tow – and even lived abroad while serving in the Navy. Through all of that, they kept a home that was calm, orderly, and intentional. They showed me how much daily life can improve when your environment is peaceful and purposeful.
They also spoiled me growing up – ironing my clothes, file-folding my drawers, and creating systems long before I ever realized what a gift that was. I didn’t fully follow their lead until my early 20s, but once I did, it all clicked. Organization wasn’t just a habit – it was a lifestyle that helped me feel clear, capable, and calm.
I launched Simply Luxe to bring that same feeling to others – combining design, estate management, and organizing expertise to create spaces that support a Luxe Living lifestyle. Whether it’s full-home organizing, relocation support, or helping clients simplify their lives, I’ve built a business rooted in what my grandparents taught me – that order is a form of care.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Simply Luxe is more than a professional organizing company-it’s a movement toward living with intention, clarity, and beauty. What sets us apart is our ability to blend high-touch organizing with an elevated design aesthetic and deep logistical expertise. We don’t just make spaces look good-we create systems that support how our clients live, move, and grow.
The road here hasn’t been linear-I started this business from scratch with no investors, no roadmap, and no idea it would grow into what it is today. It took grit, countless 10-hour days, no weekend relaxing or adventures, and a willingness to learn every corner of the business-from client psychology to backend systems to team culture. I’ve overcome burnout, team restructuring, and moments of doubt-but every challenge has made us stronger, more refined, and more connected to our mission.
I’m most proud of the team I’ve built and the trust we’ve earned. We’ve supported thousands of clients through moves, life transitions, and full-home transformations-and built a reputation for excellence along the way. We now operate with systems that allow me to lead while traveling, while still scaling with integrity and heart.
The lesson? Your business should support your life-not the other way around. Build with intention, protect your energy, and hire people who believe in your vision. Simply Luxe exists to bring peace and luxury into people’s lives-one beautifully organized space at a time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in a culinary dream here in University Heights-we have new gems popping up all the time. If my best friend came to visit for a week, we’d do it right-mixing local flavor, good energy, and a touch of luxury.
We’d start with morning walks through Balboa Park or the dog-friendly trails at Nate’s Point, followed by brunch at Great Maple or Good Omen Coffee – always a vibe. For lunch, Grains for amazing vegetarian, Plumeria or Bahn Thai if we want a little Thai and then walk over to Trolley barn park.
Evenings would be for sunset views from Mister A’s or cocktails at Kindred in South Park. We’d also squeeze in a night at Bosforo for Turkish magic, Sunny’s for pizza, and Dreamboat for a milkshake and neighborhood charm. If it’s Sunday-the Hillcrest Farmers Market is a must.
We’d fit in beach walks in Coronado with the dogs, thrifting in South Park, and a sound bath or spa day in Encinitas-because balance. San Diego has so much heart and style-and this little pocket of the city is the perfect blend of creative, cozy, and cool.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s no question in my mind – my shoutout goes to my grandparents. They were the most organized people I’ve ever known – raising a family while moving across the country and overseas with the Navy, all while keeping a calm, clean, and thoughtful home.
They taught me early on how order can be a form of love – how it can make daily life smoother and help you feel grounded no matter what’s going on around you. As a kid, I didn’t realize how lucky I was – they ironed my clothes, file-folded my drawers, and made everything feel easy. It wasn’t until my 20s that I really started following their lead, and eventually, that foundation became the spark for Simply Luxe.
Their consistency, care, and calm have stayed with me and shaped not only how I live – but how I serve others through my business.
