Meet Ronald Duverge | visual artist & photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronald Duverge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronald, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Dominican Republic: One of the most important factors that shaped my trajectory as an artist is my cultural background.
The amazing richness of such a beautiful racial mixture and the way I engage life disregarding circumstances of life in a country with such a political and economic conditions.
I believe you have to choose what dreams you are going to pursue, because this will define your future!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There is a signature in my paintings like in my photography! The light, the style on my drawings has a very enigmatic and powerful story, Sometimes I have the feeling my pieces are trying to get out of my head and say something to me! It’s practically a compulsive feeling I can’t control. It feels like something possesses my body and my mind and controls me until is done!
I am very proud that I am a self-taught artist and I always have the ability to learn new disciplines without any limits.
My life is a journey and I think I still have a long way to go,
Nothing is easy, especially for an Artist, however your mind has to be stronger than your feelings.
One thing I learned in life is that sometimes you have to select what you want to hear from others, you must be your biggest critic, and your greatest competition. But remember: all big things begin with a small dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Personally, I was captivated by the coast! I want to get old in a cabane near by the beach watching sunsets and sunrises! But my favourite places in the cities are always cafes, I love to sit and have a coffee and look at the people passing by. And study their behaviour, get some fresh air and walk at the beach. (La Jolla)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I was a teenager I read many books, I had all the time in the world, but I was very romantic, and I always liked stories and adventures! One day someone gave me a super interesting book, the book was about a visionary who had a great dream. And that book stayed in my memory for a long time until I decided I wanted to be an artist. Since then, I learned that everything is possible if you are dedicated and believe in your dreams. The book was (Jonathan Livingston Seagull) by Richard Bach. Then in the most critical moments I stated reading other authors like —Franz Kafka (the metamorphose) (The art of war) by sun tzu. Besides that, I was very lucky I had good influences and some people who guided me to follow the patterns of my dreams and become a better person.
