We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Garnett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Not thinking Im too good to take notes ! I take copious notes be it on paper or electronic

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After 23 years in the Navy serving on the Navy SEAL teams I was excited for a new purpose. Initially after retiring in 2015 I bounced from various military contracting firms volunteering with various veteran groups to include One More Wave. A couple of friends and team mates were just getting started (with One More Wave)and I was excited to me a part of the magic. Starbucks created a short documentary on One More Wave giving us tons of exposure and forcing us to realize we would need one of us to start working full time (for One More Wave), that person was me. Fast forward to now and we have created chapters all over the US and served more than 600 veterans with surf equipment

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have an amazing team of volunteers who make everything happen ! From Lynne Hoppe running our e-commerce and marketing, to all our amazing Chapter Leaders that keep our community thriving! Tony Lynch in Hawaii, Valerie Bennet in North Carolina, Jay Okenik in Virgina, and Bill “the admiral” Walter in San Diego.
