Meet Reni & Louise Schriek | Daughter + Mom, Owners

We had the good fortune of connecting with Reni & Louise Schriek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Reni & Louise, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
During the pandemic, we filled the need of extremely busy realtors and provided transactional/closing gifts for their clients. Amidst the shutdown, we found ways to curate beautiful goods, design, and create personal details (in-house) to make lovely gifts a memorable gifting experiences. Now, we feel extremely lucky (and humbled) that together, we get to do what we love all the time… and we do it with lotsa coffee, laughter, and meticulous attention paid to every detail in between.
Starting a business during the Pandemic was not easy… but that’s when we learned so much about product procurement, the positives of collaborating with local artisans and small businesses…and overall- just being really resourceful and flexible. We consider ourselves savvy ‘gifting fairies’…a nick-name a few clients have given us over the past few years.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a couple of gutsy ‘tell it like it is’ boss ladies (a mom + daughter duo) running a lovely lil’ gifting business in a light and breezy studio/office along the sunny California coast. We have years of experience in the design + service industries – from retail, merchandising, staging, and business-to-business endeavors; we have put our distinct personal style, expertise in creating memorable experiences, and keen business sense to use for projects across multiple industries.
We are a boutique gifting company that provides a fresh take on the traditional “gift basket.” for professionals, corporate businesses, weddings/events, and holidays. We provide “out of the box” gifting…where each and very hand-touched gift is thoughtfully curated and not just personal…but personalized in more ways than one.
WE ARE BIG BELIEVERS IN supporting:
Slow living
Small business
Locally sourced
Female owned companies
One-of-a-kinds
Found + repurposed
Eco-friendly products
Minimal packaging
Useful containers
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love that our studio/office is located in South Oceanside, and North County San Diego is our stomping grounds for cute boutiques, great food and good vibes. We often have breakfast meetings at RYES & GRIND (in South O) where the big cups of coffee are always hot and the eggs benedict options are amazing. Head over for early afternoon treats at BOUND COFFEE (in South O) and ALLMINE for pizza and organic /natural wine for dinner (in South O). For sure check out OLDE IVY ANTIQUES (Carlsbad Village) which is the only truly “coastal interior design + decor” boutique in North County offering antiques, vintage and new finds. Shopping at SEAHIVE (in South O) is a must for all things “cool and hip” – be sure to see the paintings and prints of KATE JOINER/SUNNY CREEK STUDIOS for a colorful view of local coastal landmarks. Grab a bite of authentic Indonesion/Asian food from the CHILLY BEARS stand (South O)…you’ll be so happy you did. Then end the day with a drink at THE SHORE ROOM (Seabird Resort) for fun cocktails and a view of the sunset.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Big shout-out to a long-time business gal pal….WENDY WARE. San Diego’s “OG” calligrapher, illustrator, artist and wedding invitation/details guru. Several upscale wedding coordinators know she is their best kept secret! (www.wendywaredesigner.com – @wendywaredesigner). She’s the loveliest person offering ‘hand created art’ for event paper and custom invitations. Over the last 20 years, Wendy has been a huge supporter of our creative ventures…and now more than ever we feel so lucky when we get to collaborate on special projects together.
