Meet Raeka Morar | Founder & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raeka Morar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raeka, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I noticed a lack of products that provide some sort of connection to the Indian culture. There was nothing out there that had ingredients that I was familiar with growing up in a South Asian household. Growing up, I had skin issues where instead of listening to my mother, I spent so much on buying products that didn’t work, or would cause other skin issues yet I knew from experience that the ingredients I grew up using worked and it was frustrating. That really motivated me to create a line that could provide ingredients suited for everyone but the South Asian women.

What should our readers know about your business?
My company, Raeka Beauty, addresses the growing demand for health in beauty with clean formulations, the need for social responsibility to contribute towards cruelty free and provide representation of diversity and culture by utilizing ingredients derived from ancient India. As a South Asian founder, I am dedicated to bringing awareness and build a connection to the South Asian beauty rituals. In addition, we cater to the women of today who are busy taking care of their families, working, being entrepreneurs, and really making a difference in the world. We provide skincare without rules and allows women to make their own choices on how to use our products and when. We don’t have a multi-step skincare routine and Raeka fits into your lifestyle whereas other brands require you to make time for them.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A perfect day in Austin consists of grabbing coffee at the numerous cafes at The Domain (an outdoor shopping mall) and if you need to get some work done, its the perfect place to get a little motivation. There are plenty of restaurants around the area but one of my favorites is stopping by True Foods for a light bight that’s always clean. Next stop, Mount Bonnell to get a little hiking in. You can also hop on a boat to hit up Lake Travis to cool off in this Texas heat before ending the day in Downtown Austin!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Startups are hard and there are times you feel helpless and times you just want to quit. My friends and family continue to remind me that its okay to slow down a little and they push me to do my very best even when I can just simply take the easy road.
