We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachael Petter-LaManna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachael, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
We really value making sure we are as sustainable as possible. This is so important because there is so much waste in this world with single-use. It is important to be mindful of when you use single-use and what you can do to prevent it.

What should our readers know about your business?
As of now, there are not too many reusable cup programs out there in the U.S.A. while they are all over Latin America and Europe. It is beyond sad the abundant use of single-use in the event industries when it could be so simply changed to reusable. Even though COVID took away a lot of revenue from event industries and everyone involved, it is important to continue the path of making events more eco-friendly. SAVRcup is here to do so in a very affordable way and even make it free for events that meet our qualifications!

One of the biggest challenges was the printing and supply source. It took us a while to figure out our printing in a way that we could cover nearly the entire cup as well as use ink that was resilient and would stick on the cup even through the dishwasher. We also wanted to make sure we weren’t putting any new plastic out there, so we found a source where we could purchase recycled plastic so all our cups are made from recycled plastic!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Let’s see… in the morning, a good breakfast at Twiggs Cafe then head over to Balboa Park to walk around and maybe visit some museums. After that, get some lunch at “It’s Raw Poke Shop” and walk along PB boardwalk. After that, head to the cliffs for sunset and then some dinner and drinks at Madison on Park and a night out at Parks & Rec!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to shout out to all the organizations that are really trying to make a sustainable impact on the world. To name a few: Upstream and Oceanic Global. They’re consistently producing helpful articles and initiatives around making our Earth more green and how we can do that!
