We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Stone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Managing a work-life balance has been a struggle for me since real estate is a 24/7 job. My interests, hobbies, and relationships typically were not a priority and work always came first in the beginning of my career. I felt I needed to “prove” myself which meant answering late night client calls and emails and rarely taking time off. How I conceptualize a work-life balance now has evolved and I’ve changed my mindset. I realize with more balance in my personal life allows me to be better in my professional life and just as productive. Integrating the two has actually helped allowing me to focus on my productivity, not just on time spent.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a real estate professional with my office located in La Jolla, but I help people all over San Diego. What sets me apart from others is that I really care. I really want to help people find a home that they will enjoy living in. It’s so exciting to be a homeowner, but the process can sound daunting and it’s my job to hold the clients hand every step of the way. Making sure they understand the entire process. I love sharing my real estate knowledge and being as helpful as possible to all my clients. When I purchased my first home I can attest it was a nerve-racking yet exciting experience. I learned that buyers and seller’s should really have the most support and upfront honesty during this process, and I believe I bring that to the table.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego has so much to offer! There are many neighborhoods that are all close to each other yet unique and different in their own way. It’s a bit city with a small town feel. Spend time in Mission Beach which has so many attractions. Take up surfing lessons, rent a boat for the day or bike on the ocean front boardwalk and be apart of the energetic crowd. San Diego is known to have the best fish tacos. After the beach, enjoy eating at The Fish Shop and try some of their famous tacos. There are also a variety of ocean front restaurants to grab a beer and watch the sunset. Another great and vibrant neighborhood is Little Italy. Check out the local farmers market on Saturday or grab a delicious dinner at one of the bustling restaurants. so many hot spots there ! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Several book recommendations that really attributed to parts of my success and changed the way I managed my time were the compound effect and Atomic Habits. I realized I can design my environment to make success easier. My relationships in my work life as well as my personal life were major influences too.
