We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Iezzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I worked as an employee for Orange Coast Magazine, and I loved my work friends so much. But I decided I wanted to be my own boss. As a business owner, I have to do most of the backend planning, which can be challenging as I wear all the hats. Recently, I started outsourcing to creatives to help with photo editing, reel editing, and found an amazing second photographer. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with other talented photographers/editors and have made some new, forever friends along the way. I have so much gratitude for the clients who have been with me for years.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I love getting to shoot for brands I genuinely use and adore! Skincare and beauty products are my absolute favorites—and the best part is, I often get to keep them. Such a fun perk of the job! A lot of my opportunities have come through referrals from friends in the industry, and I’m lucky to collaborate with a few of them on ongoing projects.
Starting my business definitely wasn’t the easiest journey. There were slow moments in the beginning, but I kept myself busy by taking on different creative projects and pushing through the challenges. When I worked at an agency, I photographed all kinds of products—everything from diapers to furniture to beach chairs, even hamster wheels. Now, as a business owner, I get to choose what I say yes to, and I’m excited to focus more on shooting the products I truly love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We moved from Riverside to Oceanside 8 years ago, and I would take visitors around town here in Oceanside. Our favorite ice cream spot is Little Fox in South Oceanside, it’s so good! If I were to go on a week-long trip, I would take a drive to Morro Bay, CA, or Cayucos, CA. We love the brown butter cookies! It’s such a peaceful place to revisit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Just want to take a moment to shout out my husband, Fabian Iezzi — my partner, my best friend, and my biggest fan through all these years. Thank you for standing with me in every season, cheering me on when I needed it most, and believing in me even on the days I didn’t believe in myself. I’m endlessly grateful for your love, your support, and the life we’ve built together. I couldn’t ask for a better teammate. ❤️
