Meet Priscilla & Chris Schultz | Wedding Photographer & Cinematographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla & Chris Schultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Priscilla & Chris, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson that our career has taught us is that you must be willing and able to accept failing forward every time you make a mistake in business. We feel that the key to success in business is to fail forward with your mistakes. It is easy to make the mistakes over and over, but we suggest a different approach. To fail forward is have the ability to be okay with making mistakes while at the same time analyzing each and every mistake. This will allow you to learn from your mistakes and prevent yourself from repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Never stop trying and never let the fear of making a mistake prevent you from taken action in your business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We believe the thing that sets our business apart is that we are a husband and wife team for both photography and cinematography.
We are proud to say that we built this business from scratch with just an idea.
We both got our bachelors degrees, but we decided that this is not the path that we want. We decided that our passion and drive was more important than the stability and consistency of a regular job.
Building a business was not easy, and we had to overcome the challenges of performing sales, marketing, and customer service tasks without a background in these areas.
Along the way we have learned to seek experts in these areas to cover our lack of expertise in these areas. It is absolutely okay to not have all of the answers, but the key we have found is to know how to look for and find people that have already paved that path before or have one part of the path already paved.
We want people to know that we tailor every photography and cinematography session we capture to express every couples own, individual, and unique love stories. Our goal is to freeze their memories in time so our couples can remember and relive these moments forever and ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start by visiting San Diego. The first stop would be breakfast at the cafe 222 followed a walk through Balboa park enjoying the beautiful architecture and scenery of the gardens. We would follow this up by visiting La Jolla cove to enjoy the beach and the jump in the refreshing water. As the sunsets we would enjoy the beautiful scenery before starting a bonfire and enjoy s’mores. Finally before heading back home we would eat in downtown San Diego at Mimmo’s Italian Village for some delicious food. Especially the fettuccini already and the fresh garlic bread, and for the wine lover’s they have a wine cellar where you can check out all of their wine choices.
Another day we would hangout in Pasadena, by spending the morning and early afternoon hours at the wonderful Huntington Library. The Huntington Library is always everyones favorite gardens and museum when we take them there, its our favorite day date spot for us. We would start the go shopping through the streets of Old Town Pasadena. There are many local shops to check out. We would followed by some such at an amazing Ramen spot called Ramen Tatsunoya.
One or two of the days would be spent having fun at Disneyland, another favorite place for us to go on dates or spend family days at.
Something else fun to check out we would take a best friend of ours the Getty Villa museum and science spots throughout Santa Monica area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We fundamentally believe that our success is ultimately due to the network and team that we have around us. We first want to give credit to God without whom none of this would be possible. God gave us the strength, wisdom, and perseverance everyday to keep going and pursuing success relentlessly. The second person that is fundamentally responsible for our success is Jai Long. He is a wedding photographer as well as our mentor in this field. His free podcasts as well as the instructional videos in his mentorship program provided a framework and understanding of the keys to success. His lessons on success beginning in your mind and the importance of correcting your mindset to be successful were invaluable tools.
