We had the good fortune of connecting with Pocho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pocho, how has your background shaped the people you are today?
We were all born in North County San Diego to immigrant parents. Our first language was Spanish and we all had to learn to maneuver this country from a young age. Seeing injustices and discrimination as a child makes you want to scream. Now as adults we have a voice our parents and some loved ones still don’t have have. That is what drives us an influences our music.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our songs are a fusion of punk, metal, cumbia and heart.

Music is our therapy and we pour not only our struggles into it, but our loved ones struggles in as well.

Growing up angry at an oppressive system with the cards stacked against us, we gravitated towards loud, angry, and fast music, all the while our parents blasted norteñas, cumbias, y banda in the living room.

Our lyrics touch on the fear of immigration taking you away

Our music touches on death, loss, and how to navigate life with the void it leaves

We write songs about depression, anxiety, and addiction

Our songs are a representation of the human experience from our unique lens

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh hell yeah! –

We have to check out some breweries first! They have great live music from local musicians

Places like Guadalupe Brewery, and Oceanside Ale Works

we would go down to the Oceanside Pier and skate/surf until the sun goes down before lighting a bonfire and roasting some smores

We would have to check the local venues like the paintbooth to catch a show

We would make our bi-monthly pilgrimage to the house skate shop on Vista

Make a stop at Peppertree frosty and finish it off at spin records in Carlsbad

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have way too many people to give thanks to, mostly our friends and families.

Our moms and dads deserve the premiere thanks though. Without their love, support, and patience we would be lost ❤
