We had the good fortune of connecting with Phuoc Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phuoc, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Doing what i love and passionate about. This is important to me because if you are doing something that you really love, you would be excited to do it everyday.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To be honest, I would like people to know that we all start somewhere. When i first started, I wasn’t even close to where I am today. I remember when I took my first photoshop class, we would have a vote after to see who project is the best. I would never made even the top half. I never let that bother me because I was genuinely enjoyed what I was doing. Since I really love what I was doing, I would find myself staying after class everyday an extra 2-4 hours just so I could make more photoshop edits. Those 2-4 hours after class everyday really adds up because I got better and good really fast. When I am not staying after class, I would pull really late nights either watching youtube or just making edits of whatever ideas that comes to my head. It took me about a year of this to get to where I am today. So when you asked if it is easy to get where I am today, I would say not one bit. It takes a lot of dedication and the always wanting to get better and better everyday at your craft. You will need to learn to be patience with yourself in the beginning because it will take time for you to get better. Nothing happen over night.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I don’t think I have one person that helped me, I had many. I want to give a shoutout to my friends and fiance for always believing and supporting me. I would like to thank my teachers at my designing school for always inspiring and mentoring me to the graphic designer and artist that I am today. Last but not least, I would like to thank my classmates for always pushing me to that next level and in return had helped me grow. You guys are the reason why I am where I am today. Thank you.
