Meet Peter Porr | Always striving to wow” people”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Porr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Peter, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance has been a very volatile topic throughout my life. Growing up, I was very devoted to my academic life and focused on a “successful professional life.” I always imagined I would study hard throughout college, get a great job, climb up the corporate ladder and have a corner office at a high-rise by the time my hair turned gray.
After graduating from my second master’s program, I focused on putting a suit on, arriving at 8:55 AM at my office building, shaking a few hands, and going to work. Indeed, I landed a great first job and got promoted twice. I left my first employer to be a manager at a publicly-tarded company, where I would oversee content marketing- a fantastic position to me.
However, with time, the glim of corporate life became grim, and getting to work every day became a burden. The COVID-19 pandemic presented itself as an excellent opportunity to start my own business.
Being an entrepreneur was never something I desired – I didn’t even take Enterpernuership in Graduate School as an elective. But being able to be my own boss, dictate my own hours, and live life the way I wanted became essential.
Nowadays, with my wife and I’s desire to add to our family of three a fourth member, work-life balance is a top priority. My young self may not be thrilled with my career trajectory, and he may indicate that a few more long working days may be beneficial. However, making more money and buying a nicer third car will probably bring way less joy to my life than spending time with my family.
Building relationships has become more important than just building my career. Even though I may not become a global phenomenon in my field, I am happy to be the biggest sensation in my family’s life.

What should our readers know about your business?
I come from a family which was provided for by our own small business, and I always felt bad working for giant corporations that crushed small companies. I knew I wanted to help those smaller businesses thrive.
Being risk-averse, I hesitated about not having a steady-paying job. But life is about taking risks, so one day I decided to jump headfirst into entrepreneurship.
That is when I decided to start Cravo Marketing, a boutique marketing agency in sunny San Diego, CA, focused on helping small and medium businesses. We specialize in web design, graphic design, SEO, paid ads, email marketing, and content creation.
My goal for my business, and how I guide myself and the company, is about quality work. Everything that comes out of Cravo is something we are proud of. Besides that, we try to form genuine relationships with our clients. Instead of just providing them a service, we try to learn everything we can from them, so our goals are aligned, and we succeed together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting, I would have to take them to the iconic Balboa Park. Not only because it is such a reference in the heart of San Diego, but its countless museums and local attractions are a hit with everyone. After that, a little hike at Torrey Pines to glimpse the beautiful beach is a must!
For food and drinks, which may be my favorite part, I have a complete list. Two of my favorite places are Isola and Puesto. The first has some of the best pizza I ever had – I recommend the burrata e pomodorini – and the ladder has mouth-watering tacos sealed with crunchy cheese!
To end the day, watching the sunset at El Prez in Pacific Beach is a great option, and having a nightcap at the Sky Deck is the way to go.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my partner, confidant, friend and wife, Kierstie Payge, who is not only my biggest supporter but who has also enlightened me and completely changed my life with the power of love.
