Meet Peter Khem | Team Coordinator & Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Peter Khem and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Peter, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our Lion Dance group is all about promoting community service , spreading cultural awareness and bringing more diversity to the San Diego community . We want Lion Dance to be a multicultural activity and a physical fitness sport .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our Lion Dance group has been around for 22 years now. Our main goal and objective is to promote the culture and heritage of Chinese lion dance and martial arts . We want to use this art as an activity to promote female empowerment , community service , spread cultural awareness and to promote more diversity in the San Diego Community .
Throughout the years we have become probably the most diverse team
In San Diego ca. we’ve had members from many backgrounds and ethnicities: Chinese , Vietnamese , Caucasian , Hispanic , Cambodian , Laos and many more .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Places to visit would be San Diego beaches , balboa park, scenery of the San Diego bay , La Jolla . Places to go eat would be convoy district to check out the amazing Asian food San Diego has to offer .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank all our current members for they’re hard work and dedication to the my team. We wouldn’t be doing performances without them . We also like to thank all our friends and family members for supporting us .
