We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Hanzlik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I thought of Kulture Studios I was thinking of all the things I enjoy and love. I have a passion for art, dance, literature., music, culture, and traveling. I was thinking of ways to incorporate all of my passions into one and how to create a lifestyle brand that is willing to give back to the community in a variety of ways. My main goal for Kulture Studios is to start off as a personal blog and create a safe and comforting environment for all. Then I would eventually like to open up a store here in German Village, Ohio that has art, literature, music, and many more things from around the world from a variety of cultures that people here can experience and learn more about.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Before the role I am in now I was a Kindergarten and Pre-K teacher for a few years. I loved it. I loved being able to teach children lessons on life and culture. I loved watching them grow and become their own person with their own little personalities. Then I made the switch to go back to school. It was a huge switch in my career but I am very happy I did it. I now work at a Children’s hospital and I enjoy everything about it. It was a learning curve but one that was worth it. I then had the idea to start Kulture Studios. It is hard time to time. Working full time, starting a new business and blog, going to school full time, and maintaining relationships, and workouts. But I wouldn’t trade anything for it. I enjoy everything I do. I love giving back to the community and volunteering and doing all the things I can to help others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, Columbus, Ohio. How I love you. If I had a group of friends come to Columbus for the weekend there are many places I would take them. For sights there is the Columbus Art Museum, Franklin Park Conservatory, a ton of metro parks, a walk through the Short North Arts District. For food my favorite spot in town is Hubbard Grill and Martini. For late night activities I like to go to a few local bars like Union, Lincoln Social, Ethyl and Tanks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people that have encouraged me to do all the things I love and they all have pushed me to purse all of my dreams. From being a professional athlete, to going back to school, and switching my careers my family and friends have always been there for me. My mom, grandma, brother, my uncle, my grandpa, my friend Emilie and my partner Jeremy have been my rocks for years. They have let me be who I want to be and let me experience many cultures and forms of art, literature, dance and music. I can not thank them enough for everything they have done for me.
