Meet Patricia Buddie | Fitness trainer / owner Buddie Fitness studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Buddie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Patricia, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I decided to change my career after having twin daughters in 1998 I realized it was extremely challenging to maintain a full time career as a Loss Prevention manager & raise to babies
I always loved the idea of being a personal trainer,,so I decided to get certified and began working at a local women’s gym.
As my daughters demanded more time, my thoughts were to build my Business from home, my husband was encouraging me to take the leap and leave the local gym it was scary but I decided it was worth a try
I converted my garage into a small fitness studio, and slowly but surely began building my clientele, mostly by referral, freinds local church
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Buisness is a private fitness studio. It is built on customer service, personal attention and accountability. I try to get to know each person that I work with to understand what they are about so I can help them meet their goals. Our goal is to change people’s lives to where health & fitness is a way of life .
I am most proud of the life changes I’ve seen in many of my clients. The majority of my clients have been with me over 8yrs & some 10-12yrs. I attribute this to personal care,& educating clients on healthy eating and customer satisfaction
I’ve come to where I am in Buisness due to my work ethics. I attribute to both of my parents; especially my father. As I built my Buisness there were many years I worked 50 weeks without a vacation until closing for the holidays.. I put in the time, my job hours,& appointments were priority. I never canceled a clients appointment or an exercise class
There has been many challenges.
The recession of 2008-2009
was challenging , we just kept pushing & praying always kept in touch with everyone who came to the studio, always encouraging people to keep exercising & keep their health priority
Covid time 2020 was also very scary having to close my studio. We closed on Friday. I cried & o prayed for guidance. By Sunday I had a plan. I reached out to my clients with my idea.
I decided to rent out my spin bikes and do online classes .Everyone thought what a great idea ~ genius. Most of my clients had longevity with me so I felt renting the bikes would work we drew up a contract & delivered the bikes.
I have learned never give up. Keep working & helping people. God has a plan, everything will work out
I want people to know that the Buddiesystem is about changing your lifestyle, it’s about health, fitness & accountability
Everyone knows just show up “Patricia will do the rest “
I practice what I preach!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love shopping so a trip fashion valley Mall and Utc would be a must.
Little Italy dinner :all the restaurants are great
Imperial beach sea 180 for lunch drinks
Great view
Balboa park for some history & a stroll
La Jolla to the beach
Hiking Torrey pines
Cardelino’s happy hour
Liberty station
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank my husband Ron Buddie Who believed & encouraged me to take the leap to build my own Buisness.
He supported me, we worked together as a team. He worked during the day many times long hours to arrive and take over the child care, so I could work with the evening clients
My daughters who were patient while I worked as they were growing up,& for their help & support now as adults.
My work ethics are attributed to my parents;Daniel & Providencia Pérez hard working people who also built their own Buisness with little cash & education, my clients who have been dedicated ,& supportive few in particular Norma Cazares, Jacqueline Bermudez, Angelica Haros and of course my instructors through out the years
