Hi Patience, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Lately, having a healthy work-life balance has been a top priority. I have a demanding profession as a licensed Pharmacist. Also, I am a day trader, digital content creator, dog mom, and most importantly a wife. In the past, I would work before scheduled and after hours. I would overextend myself by taking on additional work and commitments. Over the years, I have learned that it is ok to decline and disconnect from my career to benefit my personal life which has ultimately helped my well-being. Of course, my career is a significant part of my life, but it is not my entire life. I also enjoy traveling, cooking, exercising, socializing, creating content, and spending quality time with my family and friends. I now choose to prioritize myself and my happiness. Life is too short! Achieving a good and healthy work-life balance can be difficult, it takes effort. However, it can be effectively managed by knowing when, where, and whom to place your time and energy with.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Professionally, I am a licensed Pharmacist, with 7+ years of experience in the field. My journey to my career required fulfilling many challenging requirements. My path consisted of 4 years of undergraduate in Public Health, passing the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT), and then acceptance into the Doctoral program. Next, 4 more rigorous years to obtain my Doctorate in Pharmacy, then pass the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE) to become officially licensed. Since childhood, I have always been interested in a profession in medicine. As a pharmacist, you are the medication specialist. Not only do I work with patients to ensure they understand their medications, but also advise and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medication to treat health problems. Pharmacy as a profession is very diverse and rewarding. I am very passionate about helping others on their path to better health. I am proud to have such a meaningful and impactful career.

Outside of my professional career, I am very passionate about content creation. I create content on lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and traveling. Originally, I am from Philadelphia “GO Birds”. I moved across the country to San Diego in 2021. So lately, my content has been focused on all things San Diego as I continue to explore my new city. Being a content creator can also be challenging due to social media algorithms, gaining/losing followers, and the need for high engagement. However, I will never give up. It is a great opportunity to express my creativity and passions to the world. My goal is to inspire all that being well-rounded is attainable. That it is possible to embrace your interests and skills. It is possible to balance your professional and personal life. I have met so many genuine people through this path and I am grateful for my community. I would like to thank my loyal followers and friends for always rooting for me. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to show my friends a good time when they visit me. I truly enjoy hosting and I am an “Itinerary Queen”. I would show them the best time ever. I would take them on the Sight and Sip Sunset Cruise for a scenic sail touring around the beautiful sights of San Diego Bay. Of course, I would take them to La Jolla Shores to have a cute picnic while soaking up the views of the ocean. Balboa Park to check out the amazing architecture, museums, and the Lily Pond. For my adventurous friends, hike the Annie’s Canyon Trail, it’s short, has a narrow slot, and has impressive oceanic views. Head over to Little Italy, its trendy, lively, and walkable neighborhood packed with restaurants, cafes, bars, and desserts. Brunch would have to be at the most popular Morning Glory, with its retro atmosphere, champagne vending machine, and addictive fluffy soufflé pancakes. Right across the street is another favorite, Coco Maya. I love the ambiance of this rooftop, contemporary incorporated with Caribbean and Latin dishes that are delicious, and the cocktails are super cute. Of course, I have to take them to the upscale steakhouse Born and Raised, it’s vibrant, and has excellent steak, with tableside presentation. It’s perfect for every occasion. Also, they have the best espresso martinis in the city. Before ending the night, we would visit the multiple speakeasies San Diego has to offer. My favorite is Young Blood the space is designed so beautifully, with deliciously crafted drinks, and excellent service. Another favorite Realm of 52 Remedies, this spot is such an experience the moment you step in. Every friend who has visited me truly enjoyed this city and cannot wait to come back.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my husband for his unconditional love and support. Over the many years, he has watched me grow into the woman that I am today. Throughout all my accomplishments and failures, he has been by my side cheering me on and supporting me with unwavering devotion. I truly love that my happiness is his top priority. He’s such a persevering and hardworking man, nevertheless, he does everything in his power to keep me secure, seen, and most importantly myself.

Also, I would like to credit my mom for who I am today. Truly, where would I be without her love and guidance? Growing up in a first-generation immigrant family, I have witnessed my mom’s hard work ethic to better our future and she gave me a safe space to pursue every goal in life. She has been such an inspiration throughout my life. I cannot forget my two older sisters; they are and will always be my cheerleaders and best friends.
