We had the good fortune of connecting with Paria Vaziri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is the foundation of my career. It was a risk for me to drop out of pharmacy school to pursue naturopathic medicine. It was a risk to forgo residency or joining a practice in favor of starting my own. I’m a risk taker because I’d rather know that I tried than live my life wondering what if. I’m a risk taker because I’m resilient and I know I’m strong enough to handle the inevitable obstacles that come along with starting a business. I see these as opportunities to grow, learn, and become a better individual. Without risk, there is stagnation. When I’m in my 80’s, I want to look back on my life and my career and know that I took risks, I pushed myself, and I succeeded.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my practice and my brand as a means of helping pave the road for better women’s healthcare. As someone who went through the ringer with my own health, I wanted to be the type of doctor that listened, validated, and helped find root cause healing and not just symptom management. That’s what brought me to naturopathic medicine and practicing medicine the way that I do. I want to help empower and educate women about their bodies and their health and provide them with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their healthcare. What I want the world to know about my brand is that I’m here because I want to make a positive impact. I want to change the way women’s healthcare is practiced.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many incredible places to visit in San Diego! Naturally, we’d spend a day (or two… or three..) lounging by the beach, whether it be Windansea, Moonlight, or Pacific Beach! Starting a morning off with breakfast at Sugar and Scribe with walking around La Jolla afterwards is a must. Other things on the agenda include a picnic at Kate Sessions park, dinner at Buona Forchetta South Park, biking down the PB & Mission Beach boardwalk, sipping on La Colombe coffee and browsing around UTC mall, and definitely some California burritos at some point to round out the San Diego experience!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe where I am today to my boyfriend, Chris. He’s been my number one motivator and has stood by my side through all the ups and downs of starting a business during a pandemic. I’m as successful as I am today because I had his support through it all.
