We had the good fortune of connecting with Orianne Gish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Orianne, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance is definitely something I often think about. It’s difficult to balance certain aspects of work if you are say 1) business owner or 2) have a salary paying job. I currently fall in the first category. My husband and I own a business in the greater Los Angeles area in the health care industry. And at the same time I have a creative outlet via Instagram @styleconnfession that I try to maintain as much as I have free time.

It’s often tricky to balance work and my personal life in this season, however, what keeps me balance is reminding myself that not everything is about work, and not everything is about my personal life. I have to continuously center my mindset in the core aspects of who I am. Being a business owner and having a creative outlet via Instagram is a role that I am blessed to have; however, it doesn’t define every part of my being. So, I take the time to do my best in my roles at work, and at the same time realize that there are parts of work and in my creative outlet that also needs break.

For me, balance is about doing my best at every role that I play whether business owner, wife, daughter, sister, and friend; while at the same time not losing the core parts of who I am.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
@styleconnfession (Instagram) is my creative outlet yet it’s an outlet that I want women to see the reality/unedited/un-airbrushed photos of a real woman. My photos have minimal editing. I want people to see the real images of a real person. Social media can be so deceptive, and women are consistently comparing themselves to other seemingly “perfect” women, however, behind every photo is also a person who struggle with different hardships, and insecurities of life. I want @styleconnfession to capture the unedited reality of who I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Los Angeles so there are many many diverse things to do. Since it’s the summer I would take my friend to Venice Beach, we would stroll around the Venice beach, then the Venice Canal neighborhood, and then have lunch at the Butcher’s Daughter in Abbott Kinney. Then finish our night at the Art’s District to have dinner at Manuela’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to a couple of people who have been a critical support, and encourager in this season of life: 1) My husband: My husband has been incredibly supportive in my creativity via @styleconnfession. He is actually my photographer. He is also very patient and kind even in my creative process. 2) Secondly, I would like to thank my dear friend Rachel G. who has been an incredible rock during some of the ups and downs of the past season of life-what a treasured friend she is to me!
