We had the good fortune of connecting with Nik Lucas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nik, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking, that’s an interesting topic! I believe that taking risks is essential for growth. When it comes to my art, I don’t shy away from pushing boundaries and exploring new ideas, even if it means stepping out of my comfort zone. It required taking risks with my artistic choices, experimenting with different styles, and challenging myself to create unique designs for my clients. Sometimes, it works out wonderfully, and other times, I learn valuable lessons from that.

In terms of my career and running Art Collector Tattoo Shop, starting a new high-end oriented shop in Los Angeles was undoubtedly a risk in itself. LA is the most competitive city in the US for a top-notch tattoo shops. But I firmly believe that providing a high-quality experience and exceptional tattoos to our clients is worth the gamble.

Personally, taking risks has also played a significant role in shaping my growth as an artist. It brought me to the point where I found out that I known in the web as one of the best trash polka tattoo artists in the US. Really proud of it.
And as an entrepreneur. It has taught me to be adaptable. Of course, not every risk will lead to success, but learning from those experiences and using them to improve is what makes the journey worthwhile.

So, overall, no risk no gain.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We opened Art Collector Tattoo Shop in Los Angeles less than a year ago, and let me tell you, starting our first offline business was a wild ride! We knew we wanted to be different, so no typical street shop for us. Our focus has always been on providing top-notch tattoos and creating an environment where artists can let their creativity fly. Giving artists the freedom to express themselves freely is at the core of what we do, and it’s been incredible to see the magic they bring to every design.

Sure, we faced our challenges, but nothing worthwhile comes easy, right? We stayed strong by sticking to our vision and assembling an incredible team that shares our passion for high-quality ink. Communication and collaboration have been our secret weapons, we listen to our clients and their happy faces is the best reward! 5 stars rate on Google. It means a lot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My amazing wife, Viktoriia! She’s the driving force behind Art Collector Tattoo Shop and my online presence, taking charge of social media, photography, videography, writing, marketing, sales, and even jumping into tattooing to support us right from the start. Without her, none of this would have been possible, and I am incredibly grateful for her love and hard work.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a mentor, but I’ve learned a lot from the people I’ve met for the last 3 years and I forever grateful for all of them. In my opinion, networking is a key to success.
