We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Hastings and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natasha, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Taking a chance on yourself and stepping out in faith to do what you want to do. And, to not compare yourself with others; comparison will literally kill you. I have learned that if you want to get anywhere in life you have to take risks and sometimes you’ll get burned, but I’ve learned each step of the way and it’s gotten me to where I am today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Athletic Edge Physical Therapy is a sports performance & rehab facility specializing in treating active individuals and pelvic floor physical therapy.

I am most proud of the community and culture we’ve created at Athletic Edge PT. It’s very cool to walk into work and be surrounded by people who like their job, our clients love coming, & we provide an excellent service which shows in client outcomes.

It was not easy getting to where I am today business-wise. I’d say I’ve worked way more now as a business owner then when I was an employee, but the difference is I love the work and have a goal I’m working towards, so that fuels me. There’s been multiple challenges to overcome, including breaking out on my own and leaving a cushy job, learning how to grow and thrive during COVID as a small business, and learning how to market and sell yourself. I overcame these challenges by just going in head first, despite feeling nervous or afraid of failure, and every time I put myself out there and try, it’s always worked out in my favor.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would for sure take them hiking first at Torrey Pines or Mission Trails followed by a cold brew at Pure Project and then Duck Foot Brewery in Miramar.

We’d have to do the touristy things like checking out Balboa Park, the zoo, check out SeaPort Village. Do fitness and drop in for a CrossFit class at CrossFit Fortius, and then yoga with NamaSteve on the grassy knoll in PB.

We’d drive up to Laguna for a day, hang at the beach and then hit up a rooftop bar there.

I’d take them to the Little Italy’s Farmer’s market on Saturday followed by brunch at Queenstown.

And yea that’s it, I’m a pretty routine person so majority of the week would consist of CrossFit, hiking, taking day trips with my dogs, drinking good beer and fancy cocktails.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I always have to give thanks to God first for the gift of physical therapy and being able to help people, and also the wisdom and courage to step out to start a business. I have to give a shoutout to my husband Ben who’s backed me this entire time of being a business owner, always encouraging me and supporting me in everything I do. And then to my friends and family who have supported me in any way they can.
