Meet Nat Warr | Nat Warr Photography

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nat Warr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nat, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe one of the most important factors behind the success of my business is making it a priority to both serve my client, and to seek to know their story. It’s important to me that I take the time to ask questions and get to know them, their style, and their vision for the shoot. This helps me to create a personalized, successful photoshoot for each client!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up in a family immersed in the arts and have always loved photography. I started to pursue photography after taking some film photography classes. I eventually switched to digital, and when the opportunity came up to open a small studio, I went for it and started my business in 2010.
When I first started my business, I focused on photographing newborns, kids, families, and events. In my second year of business, I had an opportunity to photograph a children’s clothing line! I loved this new avenue of photography and began to expand the commercial side of my business.
I would say the first three years of business were the most challenging for me because I was learning the ends and outs of running a business, while also polishing my craft. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family and community. Having people who believed in me and my work gave me the confidence to keep growing my business. I’m incredibly grateful for mentors like Azalea from Flowers by Azalea, Gloria and Anthony Edge from Edge Academy, Vallie from Jitters Coffee Pub, and Jen from Olive Public Relations. I’m so thankful for all of their support, guidance, and encouragement. Throughout the years, I have had the honor of working with some amazing clients, including; Cinepolis, Kerry Walsh, Cadence Travel, Liberty Station, Rush Cycle, Olive Pr, P1440, and more!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love my hometown! Some of my favorite spots for photography and exploring are Terra Mar beach in carlsbad, Leo Carrillo park, Carlsbad flower fields, Oceanside pier, Del Mar Dog beach, Cedros art district, Power House park, downtown Encinitas, Balboa park, Lake View park in San Marcos, and Old Poway Park. Some of my favorite spots to eat are Wrench and Rodent in Oceanside, Umami in San Marcos, Amalfi’s on Lake San Marcos and Isola in little Italy! There are so many fun things to do in San Diego, whether it’s hiking Double Peak in San Marcos, kayaking in La Jolla, checking out the architecture of Balboa park, there is SO much to do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
