We had the good fortune of connecting with Moses Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Moses, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We advocate for victims of sexual assault and or childhood sexual abuse. My experiences as a detective for the Los Angeles Police Department investigating sex crimes for over 20 years has allowed me to meet victims and their families in their darkest time. Helping them navigate through their healing journey and criminal justice system has allowed me to witness their transformation from a survivor to a conqueror over hundreds of times. Getting justice by securing guilty verdicts and long prison sentences has prevented the criminals from re-offending the same victims or new victims.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Bottom line, I allow myself to feel the pain of the persons/victims I serve. To help me deal with all the evil stuff I see day in, day out, I pray every Sunday during church service. I pray for God to clean my soul, mind and spirt and heal my pain. I also pray for all of my victims. Those I am currently serving, have served and just as important those I will serve in my future.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
High School Teacher: Sue Crampton at Carlsbad High School. She showed me care and concern when my mom was fighting for her life during my high school years. We became very close and I could not have believed in myself without her.

LAPD Supv Detective Maria Rivas who sought me out to join her unit, Newton Area Sex Crimes. She taught me a lot and set the foundation for my success in my long career.

My mother, who died when I was 20 years old. She worked hard as a single parent to raise me and my two sisters and shared her faith in God to me. That faith became my own and my cornerstone of my life
