We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Ruiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before Bloomie Creations was started, I was working a regular 9-5 desk job, literally going through the motions of life. Nothing was exciting, I left like I was just existing, and not living! I finally built some courage, and left that job. What was my next move? I asked myself two questions ” What do you like? I like plants.” and ” what do you want to do with your life? I want to be my own boss.” I merged my two answers and made a little adjustments and Bloomie Creations was born! I have had complete control of my business, and every new opportunity is exciting. Everyday is different, I am constantly learning new things, and the sky is literally the limit!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The hardest part of starting a business is trying to figure out how to separate yourself from the other businesses just like yours. As a florist – all the flowers are the same same. We get products from the same wholesalers, who get their inventory from the same growers. What makes us all different is our customer service, and ultimately our style. I have a strong background in customer service from my years as an Account Manager/ Customer Service Rep. I want every inquiry and every interaction with my clients to be personal and tailored to their needs. I have customers who have been with me since Day one – and three years later they continue to come back. That has to be the biggest compliment to my work. When it comes to challenges when running a business – there are many! When an obstacle is put in front of me, I keep one thought in mind, ” Always do the right thing.” I would rather lose money on an order, than compromise the integrity of my business. Right now, trying to conduct business during this pandemic has absolutely been challenging. I have been as flexible as possible with postponements, and cancellations. I put myself in the brides position, and the last thing they need is a vendor being difficult. Bloomie Creations creates smiles, and I remember that when I am having to make decisions!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With the holidays being right around the corner, one of the best places to stop by is at the Jurupa Valley Adopt A Family office! This local organization has been blessing our community for over ten years. They have fundraisers and charity events all year long, so come Christmas time, they can bring joy to families in need. During this time, volunteers are very much needed with wrapping gifts for children, and getting their deliveries ready! Santa brings a whole parade to families. They deliver food and gifts for them to enjoy on Christmas!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Bloomie Creations was not built on the back of one person. I would not be here without the support of my family! My amazing mother and boyfriend have been the biggest pillars of support throughout the growth of my business! Without them, none of this would have been possible! From early mornings at the market, to the event days themselves, my mom has helped me every step of the way! My boyfriend has been my personal assistant and personal carpenter creating unique wood rentals for our events. These two individuals have been vital in my professional and personal growth these last few years! Thank you for everything!
