We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business, was that I wanted to spend my time doing something that I was truly passionate about. I wanted to bring joy to others while being able to lead with my heart. This business allows me to do all of that and more! I love capturing special moments on camera. I believe it is truly important to have memories captured to look back on, from your Wedding Day, to remember all the big and small details, laughter and love shared, and all the special moments that passed so quickly, to maternity, to remember just how it felt to have your little one in your belly, to annual family photos, to freeze time and capture the little faces, hands, and personalities of your little ones that seem to grow too quickly. I love how much joy these memories bring to my clients, and I love how much joy it brings to me capturing them. I also love that I can do it all while creating my own schedule so I don’t miss any important moments with my own family. ♥️
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a photographer based out of San Diego. I began photographing professionally in 2018. I am passionate about the art that I create, and take my time editing each image to create special and beautiful photographs that capture the unique story of all of my clients. Each person has a story, and I love learning about each of my clients, their lives, and what makes them unique. It really helps me to capture them at their best. As for my story, it is still being written. There has definitely been some challenges along the way that I have had to overcome, but dedication, passion, perseverance, and grace have all been key. I believe in leading with my heart and God, and that has helped me to overcome many hurdles along the way. This journey has just begun for me, and I am excited to see where it leads me to. I hope to get to photograph many more of you, and so that I may be a part of your journey and you in mine. ♥️
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooh well this question is fun! There’s so many great places to visit and fun things to do in this beautiful city! First, we would start by booking a cabin in Mt. Laguna so we could spend a couple days exploring all the beautiful scenery. We would definitely get some apple pie and hot chocolate from the Julian Pie Company. They are the best! Next, we would spend a day at the beach! Although, there isn’t just one particular that is the best, so we would have to explore a few. Maybe one day exploring a few, and another day choosing a favorite to spend the day on. Some favorites are the La Jolla Tide Poles, La Jolla Shores, Mission Beach, and Sunset Cliffs for the beautiful views and watching the sunset. We would have to definitely hike Torrey Pines as well. Such fun hiking trails and beautiful views, it’s a must! As for restaurants, I would take them to Sho Gun for sure. It has been my favorite for years. They have great food, great staff and the whole experience is memorable. I also know San Diego is known for their mexican food, so we would definitely need to get some tacos. I live in Ramona, and like Salsa and Mariscos. My favorite foods of all though is Pho, so I would take them to my favorites; Pho Truc Xanh in Escondido, Pho Poway Noodle House in Poway, and Pho Saigon & Grill in Carmel Mountain. If I haven’t used up all my days yet, I think a day at Coronado would be nice. Maybe ice skating at the hotel, eating sushi nearby with some drinks, and taking the day to explore the beach and hotel. I also think a cruise on the Bay would be amazing and memorable. Maybe a brunch cruise one of the days would be super fun! We would also have to visit a lake! Rent a boat for the day and just cruise around. I think I am out of days, but if it were a two week trip, I could definitely think of more places to go and things to do. I love this city!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, friends and clients! I appreciate the love and support of my circle so much! The belief they’ve all had in me to succeed, along with the support and love has all meant the world to me. Thank you all so much!!!
