Meet Molly Frier | Manufacturer Sales Representative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Frier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
A habit I formed early on in my career is persistence and follow up. In sales, i’m used to hearing no and that is ok. However, with a positive attitude, persistence and continued follow up – most of the time, i eventually get a yes!
What should our readers know about your business?
My degree is in interior design, i moved to California from the midwest to be a interior designer for the hospitality industry. In 2009 when the recession hit I lost my job. I called home telling my dad what had happened and his exact words were, “it’s not the end of the world.” I was devastated and knew waking up the next day would be hard because i didn’t have a job to go to. I started calling everyone i had met in the industry asking who was hiring, what other options I had and just before I was about to go home for Christmas I got a job offer in the sales side of the industry. It was a way for me to stay within the industry and learn another side of it. I stayed positive about the experience and the knowledge i was going to learn and grow from. I did exactly that….then i was doing so well i decided to branch off and start my own company doing manufacture sales. In 2012 I started my own company and have loved every minute of what i do. I think what makes me different in my industry is my design background and the knowledge i bring to each individual project with the manufacturers i represent. I speak the design language so I know what they are looking for when they ask!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
i have friends and family visit all the time, of course they all want to first see the most popular and tourist places but i think now that I have lived here for 15+ years i bring a little more “local” vibes to the table for visitors. I love the west side – west side / best side, am i right? I love good food, great weather and even better company. Some of my favorite places are: Sunday Mar Vista farmer’s market, Gjusta, Gjelina, Scopa, Venice Whaler, Great White, The Lincoln, Belle’s Beach House, The Waterfront, The Rose Cafe, The Butcher’s Daughter, the list can go on… I love a great bike ride along the beach path. The people watching never disappoints. Enjoying nature, the beautiful weather, sunshine and the sea breeze in my hair is always the best kind of day in my book.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think my biggest role models have always been my parents. While they were entrepreneur’s themselves, they always encouraged me to be my best self and i could do anything i set my mind to. Money is money, there is always room to make more as long as i am kind, considerate and motivated I can push the limits and succeed in anything i want to accomplish.
