We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Federis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I truly believe in any industry and business, Customer Service has to be a top priority. Providing exceptional customer service in every aspect in my business has always been a high priority. I want to ensure that my clients not only receive amazing photos but an experience that is professional and welcoming.

Customer Service can be many factors such as the experience, communication, and professionalism. I take pride in making sure our booking process from beginning to end is simple and easy to understand. Weddings are already pretty daunting task for couples to plan, and I want to make our process as streamline as possible.

We definitely take a holistic approach to everything we do. When we take a client, we want them to feel as they are our only client. We ensure that any questions and concerns they may have is addressed on a timely manner. We also go above and beyond by ensuring they have direct communication with us throughout the wedding planning process.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ever since I was a child, I remember doodling on a piece of paper. I’ve always been interested and fascinated in all forms of art including photography and videography.

Wedding Photography is definitely one of the most difficult genre’s of photography to break into. On the other, it is one of the most full-filling jobs I think out there.

I’d say creating a wedding photography portfolio was one of the biggest challenges. I think for most wedding photographers, they can agree that photographing weddings sort of fell into their lap by coincidence. I first started when my cousin had asked me to photograph their 10 year wedding anniversary and from there I never looked back.

I have definitely enjoyed created wedding art! Wedding photography can provide so much variety and each wedding is so unique. In addition, the industry continues to innovate and we see new photographers creating art that we have never seen before.

My style is natural, vibrant, and timeless. However, I always strive to provide something unique with every wedding and experiment with new techniques every time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would have to take them to my top 3 must see locations in SoCal: Laguna Beach, Glamis Sand Dunes, and Joshua Tree National Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Huge shoutout to Walter Arenas (Wedding Videographer) for his friendship and partnership. We have collaborated on many weddings together and many more to come.
