We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Malloy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing most people don’t realize about acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is how deeply individualized it is. Many assume acupuncture is just about placing needles in the body for general wellness, but in reality, every treatment is customized based on the patient’s unique constitution, symptoms, and even things like the color of their tongue or the quality of their pulse. Chinese Medicine is an incredibly nuanced system that looks at the body as a whole—physical, emotional, and energetic—so no two treatments are exactly alike. Beyond pain relief, Chinese Medicine is a complete holistic system focused on preventative care, addressing a wide range of chronic conditions. It can be life-changing for people struggling with infertility and endometriosis to vertigo, IBS, insomnia, migraines, hormone imbalances, chemo side effects, and fatigue. It’s not just about symptom relief; the goal is to uncover and address the root cause of imbalance, which is why it can be so transformative for chronic conditions that Western medicine often struggles to treat effectively.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My path to this work was personal. I spent years struggling with chronic health issues, and nothing in Western medicine provided lasting solutions. When I discovered acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, everything changed, and I knew I wanted to help others in the same way. Building my practice wasn’t easy—I left a career in finance, moved across the country and spent years studying. But with time and patience, I’ve learned to trust the process, both in healing and in building my career. The most important lesson I’ve learned is that growth takes time, and perseverance always pays off.

My business, Michelle Malloy Acupuncture and Wellness, is dedicated to empowering women to take control of their health. As a Board-Certified Clinical Herbalist, Licensed Acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese Medicine in the Beverly Grove/West Hollywood area, I specialize in fertility, women’s health, digestion and autoimmune diseases. What sets me apart is my integrative approach—combining acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and Functional Medicine to address the root causes of imbalances. I take a comprehensive approach by incorporating Functional Medicine testing, hormone panels, and GI mapping to create more personalized and effective treatment plans.

Many women come to me after years of struggling with irregular cycles, unexplained infertility, painful periods, migraines, or chronic fatigue. These symptoms aren’t just isolated issues—they’re signals of deeper imbalances. I’m passionate about providing holistic solutions that go beyond symptom management, addressing the root causes of these health challenges.

For example, many of my fertility patients arrive with little guidance on optimizing their health for conception. We first focus on key areas like hormone balance, thyroid function, blood sugar regulation and gut health. By taking this comprehensive approach, I help them create a strong foundation for optimal fertility outcomes. I work with women trying to conceive naturally, as well as those using modern reproductive technologies like IUI and IVF, and continue to support them during pregnancy and through the postpartum period, helping them optimize their health and reconnect with their bodies as they navigate this new chapter. From preconception to postpartum, I work closely with my patients to ensure they feel confident and empowered in their bodies every step of the way.

I’ve seen firsthand how acupuncture, herbal medicine, supplements, nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and Functional Medicine testing lead to lasting, transformative results. Whether it’s improving cycle regularity, ovulation rates, restoring energy, reducing stress, improving sleep, alleviating pain and inflammation or optimizing fertility outcomes my patients experience real, measurable results. Beyond fertility, I also support women with PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders, autoimmune diseases, and chronic pain—helping them restore balance and reclaim their health.

When patients choose to work with me, I make it my mission to be their partner in health. We are a team working toward their goals, and this is what drives me to keep doing the work I do every day. My goal is to help women reclaim their health with tools that truly support long-term healing. Chinese Medicine changed my life, and I’m honored to share its wisdom with my patients every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Many places in LA have been impacted by the recent fires, so this list is going to look a little different than it would have a few months ago. But now, more than ever, it’s important to support the local businesses in and around the affected areas. If a friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure to show them the best of LA, balancing outdoor adventures, great food, and hidden gems.

We’d start our mornings with outdoor adventures, heading to El Matador State Beach for a beach day, where we could explore the stunning rock formations and sea caves. After soaking in the ocean views, we’d hike through Solstice Canyon or up to Sandstone Peak in Malibu, both offering breathtaking coastal views. For lunch, we’d stop at Malibu Farm on the pier, where we could enjoy fresh, local fare with incredible ocean views. As the day winds down, we’d head over to The Sunset Restaurant near Point Dume, a hidden gem with dinner right on the beach where we could watch the waves roll in. If we were feeling adventurous, we could take a day trip up to Santa Barbara to hike to the Montecito Hot Springs, a peaceful, hidden oasis.

Since I love kayaking, I’d plan a morning paddling session through Marina del Rey, where we could spot sea lions and enjoy the scenery from the water. Afterward, we’d grab lunch at Gjelina and take our time strolling down Abbot Kinney, exploring the boutiques and coffee shops. In the evening, we’d head to the Santa Monica Proper Hotel rooftop for dinner, where the sunset view and ambiance would be the perfect backdrop for a relaxing night out.

For more food adventures, I’d take us to AOC in Beverly Hills for some amazing wine and small plates, and to Jon & Vinny’s on Fairfax for a taste of their delicious Italian menu. Brunch at Great White in Larchmont would also be on the list. And of course, we’d stop by Erewhon because, let’s be real, it’s an LA experience in itself!

To cap off our trip, we’d do a sunset hike at Griffith Park to take in the panoramic views of the city and get that iconic shot of the Hollywood Sign. Afterward, we’d head to Bacari Silverlake for a cozy dinner to unwind. It would be the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable week in LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and inspiration of so many people. My mom was the first person who taught me to think about health in a proactive way. Growing up, she was very intentional about the food she served our family, making sure we ate whole, unprocessed foods and always encouraging movement and exercise. That planted the seeds early on for my love of health and wellness.

When I read The Alchemist, I was in a finance career that didn’t feel meaningful, and it made me reflect on my path and what truly fulfilled me. It gave me the push I needed to leave behind stability and pursue a career in Chinese Medicine—something that had personally transformed my health. That decision wasn’t easy, but it led me to work that feels purposeful every day.

I have deep gratitude for my teachers and mentors in Chinese Medicine. Studying acupuncture and herbal medicine is a lifelong journey, and I’ve been fortunate to learn from some brilliant practitioners who have shared their knowledge and wisdom with me. One mentor who had a profound impact on my journey is Dr. Hua Bing Wen. Not only was he a professor at my school, but I also had the privilege of working in his private practice for several years while I was a student. He is a master herbalist with a deep passion for helping people with chronic and hard-to-treat diseases. It was such an honor to learn from him, and I owe so much of my herbal knowledge to his guidance.

The community of acupuncturists I’ve connected with over the years has been incredibly supportive—being surrounded by people who are just as passionate about this medicine keeps me inspired and always learning.

And of course, my patients! Every single person who walks through my door has contributed to my journey in some way. Their trust, their stories, and their healing transformations fuel my passion for this work every day.
