We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Barth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To create one-of-a-kind escapes across the globe for travelers.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Just Escape Travel are the experts in custom travel. We are a boutique travel agency designing seamless travel itineraries which include all accommodations, personalized guided tours, immersive experiences, transfers, air ticketing and dining reservations. Our goal is to understand what our clients want to experience during their trip and make it a reality. Given the ultra-personal nature of our service, I am most proud of how Just Escape Travel has grown organically through referrals and repeat clients. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing travel stories when our clients return from their travels. It is all about creating those memories that last a lifetime. As travel came to an abrupt stop in 2020, we were on the front lines advocating for our travelers. We worked closely with our international partners, air carriers, hoteliers, and tour operators to refund and reschedule travelers on their behalf. Post pandemic travel will look different, but having a trusted travel professional will be the key to navigating the waters. Traveling with peace of mind is the difference!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love making the most of the day! It would start early with coffee at Hawthorn Coffee a neighborhood spot focused on small-batch coffee. Then we would head west to Sunset Cliffs for a trail walk with a pit stop at Azucar, a Cuban bakery that serves up delicious sweet and savoury snacks. After taking in beautiful ocean views the next stop would be Mitch’s Seafood for a delicious Baja fish taco in Point Loma. After lunch, we would rent electric bikes and cruise through Crown Point, Mission Bay, Mission Beach taking in the coastal beauty. The evening would consist of post-ride celebration drinks on the beach at JRDN at Tower 23 to catch the sunset. Freshen up for a special dinner in Little Italy at Herb and Wood specializing California woodfire plates. End the day by taking a stroll and you’ll be saying, today was a good day!
