We had the good fortune of connecting with Mehran Ghassemi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mehran, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The fact that ¨failure¨ is an inevitable component of creating and progress

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We truly craft food. We do not cut any corner and we strive to stay fresh and to maintain a fast supply cycle so people always enjoy the freshest products. We are not shy on creating new concepts and new blends. We are always joyful and healthy. Both joy and health are SIDIES non-negotiable features. As a cumulative result of the above process, we take pride in serving a wide range of ages, from the children of 2 to the elderly of 90! Continuous hard work for so many years, day after day, has brought us to where we are. Still after four years or so, 7-days a week, long hour schedule is an absolute condition of our business model.
Taking a wild risk of creating one product after the other, crafting each of product individually to something very unique, maintaining a very close one to one relationship with customers and keeping our standards of quality at the peak are all part of our journey to the place we are at today.
We want the world to know that SIDIES is in Service business, not Product. We will strive hard to create joyful & healthy products for our local community. And that is our way of serving our community!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Shores of Southern California are always charming, specially at the sunset. Reel Inn on PCH would make a beautiful seafood night, enjoying the sunset over PCH. Wineries of Santa Barbra, breweries of San Diego, Downtown SLO, and Sausalito are all most beautiful places to visit. Ethnic Asian markets of DTLA are always so flashy with lots of surprising options to taste.
Farmers Markets of LA are heavenly attractive and visiting them, one can truly feel the abundance of the freshest produce and innovative fresh food.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
SIDIES is created by collective effort of numerous people including family members, customers, caring colleagues and employees.
