Meet Matthew Gray | Director of Client Services at Greystar

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matthew Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matthew, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of the Suncrest at Ponte Vista community is our commitment to creating a welcoming and seamless living experience for our residents. We understand that finding a home is more than just securing a place to live—it’s about feeling comfortable, supported, and part of a community. By prioritizing exceptional service, clear communication, and a hassle-free leasing process, we make it easy for residents to find a place they’re proud to call home.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being part of the real estate industry, I’ve had the chance to work on exciting projects such as Suncrest at Ponte Vista, which innovates the rental landscape in Southern California. Our community of townhomes offers a perfect blend of luxury, private home living with the convenience of onsite property management and maintenance services that make everyday living effortless.
What truly sets us apart is the strong sense of community we’ve built. As the area continues to grow, we take pride in fostering a welcoming environment where residents can connect and feel at home. Our prime location offers easy access to DTLA, stunning Palos Verdes coastal views, exciting Long Beach events, and the expanding West Harbor in San Pedro, drawing in residents from all over the county who are looking for a place to call home.
Our success comes from learning to truly listen to our residents’ needs and continuously enhancing their living experience. At the heart of our brand is a simple yet powerful mission: to offer a home where residents feel comfortable, connected, and cared for. We’re excited to be part of this vibrant, evolving area in the South Bay.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Arrival and Sunset at the Beach
We’d kick things off by grabbing lunch at Aventurero Coffee, a perfect spot to fuel up with some great coffee and pastries. Then, I’d take them to Royal Palms Beach for some relaxation with stunning coastal views. We’d watch the sunset over the Pacific and enjoy the scenery—it’s a beautiful start to the trip.
Day 2: Exploring Local Art and History
We’d head over to The LA Maritime Museum to dive into San Pedro’s maritime history. After that, a visit to the Palos Verdes Peninsula for panoramic views of the coastline would be a must. For dinner, The Whale & Ale is a fun British pub with great food and a lively atmosphere.
Day 3: A Day at the Ports and Local Brewery
We’d take a Port of Los Angeles tour to check out one of the busiest ports in the world—definitely a cool experience! In the evening, we’d head to San Pedro Brewing Company for craft beers and good vibes, followed by dinner at La Trattoria, a local favorite for Italian food.
Day 4: Local Sports Vibes
Since San Pedro has such a rich baseball community, I’d take them to a local high school or community game to catch some action and soak up the passionate local atmosphere. It’s always fun to watch games where the community feels so connected to the team. Afterward, we could grab a casual dinner at Taranis Dockside Hardo, a great waterfront spot with delicious food and great views.
Day 5: Exploring Downtown San Pedro
We’d spend the day checking out the shops and local art galleries in Downtown San Pedro. We could stop by The Painted Lady for some trendy shopping and grab lunch at Steamed for tasty steamed buns and unique dishes. In the evening, we’d grab drinks at The Corner Door—a great place to relax with a cocktail.
Day 6: Day Trip to Catalina Island
A day trip to Catalina Island would be perfect for exploring the crystal-clear waters, hiking, and enjoying a scenic boat ride. We could do some fun activities like ziplining or just walk around the beautiful town of Avalon.
Day 7: Relax and Enjoy the Local Community
On the final day, we’d chill at one of San Pedro’s amazing parks like Point Fermin Park, taking in the views and the vibe. We could wrap up the week with a farewell dinner at Porto’s Bakery—a perfect place for some amazing Cuban food and dessert.
Throughout the week, we’d make sure to soak in the local sports culture, especially how much of a baseball hub San Pedro is! The energy surrounding local games and the pride residents have for their teams really adds something special to the community vibe. Whether we’re grabbing a bite at a local hotspot, cheering on a local team, or just taking in the beauty of the area, it’d be the best time ever!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
At the Suncrest at Ponte Vista community, our success is a reflection of the incredible support, collaboration, and dedication of many. We want to give a special shoutout to our amazing residents, whose trust and sense of community make Suncrest a true home, as well as the people working behind the scenes – from property management and maintenance teams to our partners in leasing and community planning, their collective efforts help create the exceptional living experience our residents enjoy every day.
We’re also grateful for the overall community and nearby local businesses, whose support and engagement have been a vital part of our journey. The collaboration and connections fostered by the residents and all those involved in our growth contribute to making this place truly special.
We’re very thankful for everyone who has played a role in making Suncrest a place where residents feel valued, supported, and at home.
