We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt George and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Danville, Illinois. A small town with midwestern values. People from Danville worked hard and had grit. Growing up in a town where there were not just good people, but also hardworking and caring people. Many successful people came out of Danville and have made change and been impactful in their careers and for their communities.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a 30 year CEO in the Nonprofit/Social Service space. I had the unique experience to always be a CEO. Started raising money for others at the age of 16 and did not realize that it was my destiny to help others. Having run major Children’s Home have made it a calling not a job. Seeing everything you can both good in bad in life is humbling. It was my job to fight for the kids that needed help. That is what I did. Changing Lives and Saving Lives was my motto that I lived by and even now it is something I live by daily. Today I am 3x #1 Bestselling Author and would not have ever gotten there without the humbling experience in leading thousands of great people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to walk and also to eat. So there are so many places to go. My favorite restaurants are all family owned restaurants. Love going to places where it feels like the recipe is a hundred years old. I also love going to the farmers markets ands the Santa Monica Farmers market is one I have been to. I love a diverse city and having such a diverse selection of restaurants makes it fun for whatever you want to eat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes out to my Dad, Carl George. He has pushed me to become the best in everything that I try. The motivation was always there as a son to impress and wanted him to be proud, now I look at it as not jut a father, but a friend and an advisor. As I was growing up I learned what it means to work hard and grind.
