We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Anta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marina, what makes you happy? Why?
In my view, happiness comes from gratitude. For me, it’s about embracing the present moment and appreciating what I already have in my life. When I focus on gratitude, I find joy in the simple things around me every day. It’s not about constantly chasing after more or better things, but about valuing and cherishing what I have right now. This mindset helps me find fulfillment in the present and brings a sense of contentment and peace

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Art, for me, is a profound journey of self-exploration, a quest for authenticity and pure expression. I consciously try to silence external opinions and influences, tuning into my voice and vision. This inner dialogue and struggle reveal genuine emotions, thoughts, and perspectives that I pour into my work.
While my focus is deeply personal, I cherish the connection with viewers. It’s a delicate balance—staying true to my artistic integrity while creating pieces that resonate. I aim to evoke emotions, provoke thoughts, and forge connections beyond words. This dual challenge drives and fulfills me as an artist.
I primarily use soft colors in my paintings, evoking nostalgia and solitude. I love seeing viewers engage with my work, adding their own layers of meaning. This interaction enriches my art beyond my original intent.
Though I’ve been painting for many years, I feel like my true artistic journey is just beginning. Art isn’t just an expression of my feelings and thoughts—it’s my internal guide to authenticity. To reflect this in my art, I must live authentically, muting external critiques and fully embracing my true self. This commitment shapes my art, making it a genuine reflection of who I am.
The journey is challenging, demanding constant self-reflection and vulnerability. But it’s this struggle that infuses my art with meaning and authenticity. Each challenge deepens my connection to my work and those who experience it. I feel incredibly fortunate to be on this path, no matter how challenging it may be.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such a talented, encouraging, and supportive group of people at this point in my life. It’s hard to single out just one person because each of them has played a significant role in my growth as an artist. However, if I had to choose, it would be one of my mentors, Roberta Dyer. I deeply admire her not only for her incredible artistic skills but also for her character. Her guidance, wisdom, and belief in me have been invaluable, shaping both my art and my personal development.
