We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The habits that I felt help me succeed in social media is my work ethic. I treated social media like it was a second job where I got up early before my teaching job to work on emails, editing and networking. I would work during my lunch breaks and also film late at night after work. Having a strong work ethic is what got me to where I am today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey in social media was not easy. I put in many hours and sleepless nights into getting my career going. In the beginning I was well known for my unboxings and reviews on new product launches. As the years have gone by I have pivoted from beauty to mommy and lifestyle. I have two daughters, Ryleigh(3 yrs old) and Kinsley (1 yr old). My biggest challenge has been the past year when becoming a single mom of two little ones. It has been truly difficult to find enough time to put into my business when I am raising two little girls on my own. Due to this new life change I become a lot more open and real about my content. I feel that has really set me apart from others. I am showing the struggles of being a single mom. I hope to help other moms that are going through similar struggles and to help them know they are not alone.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego has so much to offer for all ages. If I had someone visiting and they had kids I would take them to the Safari Park, Legoland, Sea World, San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. There is so much to do here with kids. For date nights and a night out on the town I would suggest to go to a restaurant in Little Italy. Little Italy has so many unique and delicious restaurants such as; cloak and petal, el camino, Nolita hall and born and raised. Other fun places to go out would be Encinitas, Del Mar and downtown. Also Coronado is a great place to go for a day trip. There are endless things to do here in San Diego.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person I have to recognize and who has always been my biggest supporter is my mom. I would not be where I am today without her. My mom was the one person who believed in me and knew that I could make social media a career. I owe her everything. An organization I would love to also recognize is Ipsy. I signed with Ipsy shortly after only doing social media for a year. I worked with them for 3 years and it was some of the best years I have had in this industry. Ipsy taught me a great deal about the behind of the scenes of the industry and I got to meet so many inspirational people in the industry because of them. I am truly grateful for everything they have done for me.
