We had the good fortune of connecting with Madi Creese and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madi, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
A lot of people think Reiki, yoga and different wellness offerings should be free. That’s like saying your doula should be free because you are delivering the baby or you should work 8 hours at the office and not get paid for it. Divine energy is free, but gaining the skill and the ability to utilize Reiki energy for healing costs money. So does setting up a Reiki practice, launching a website, joining professional affiliations, spending time with clients, and staying on top of the latest trends and developments. People are paying for the skills and expertise the practitioner has developed to be a professional service provider, the same way other health and wellness providers are paid.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It has been quite an interesting road to travel. There’s been ups, downs, and plateaus just like most things in life. I only see myself continuing to evolve and loving yoga and Reiki more as time passes because this practice has helped me through many of life’s ordeals and has given me the tools to help others.

Growing up, my family used to call me Mad Max. Being the kid that I was, I carried that nickname with me into my adulthood. Once I moved to New York, while studying reiki, I also discovered the phrase “It’s mad brick outside,” and things started to click for me. From there came the concepts of my business name, MadReiki, something that shows my light but also packs a punch. One of my greatest beliefs is that Reiki & yoga is for everyBODY. Regardless of size, shape, or color, yoga and Reiki is for you. My teaching style reflects this. I consistently show up filled with compassion, patience, body awareness, and a sense of playfulness. My classes incorporate Vinyasa and Reiki with a focus of getting students to be present by connecting with their breath in order to become aware of their bodies. My students are able to flow in a way that helps them uncover their own strength, grace, healing abilities, and infinite potential. Moving out of your comfort zone to accomplish these things is not easy, so I’m proud of all of my experienced yogis, energy receivers, and those who are just starting out on their spiritual journeys.

Yoga and Reiki, in the western society, most recently seems to be a spiritual bypass, washed out by people who want to create the best Instagram reels and make a bunch of money in doing so, which goes against the actual practice of spirituality, yoga, and reiki. That’s how MadReiki is different. It’s a safe space where you can just show up as you are, fully accepted and fully allowed to just be.

The services MadReiki offers are Reiki healing sessions (in-person or virtual), private and group yoga classes (in-person or virtual), and ear candling. MadReiki also has a line of homemade holistic products that include Reiki infused lotion, natural deodorant and yoga mat spray. We will soon be releasing oil rollers for different dis-eases that are fully customizable to your needs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a lot of people I’d like to thank, but there’s a specific few who have really supported me through and through: my amazing mother, my incredibly supportive wife and partners, my Reiki mentor Heather, and all the studios, gyms and clients/students who trusted me to help them on their healing journeys.
