Meet Luz Tijerina-Garduno | Immigration Attorney & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Luz Tijerina-Garduno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luz, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was working for a law firm that did not align with my ethics. In addition to that I had a 2 year old son who I felt like I was missing out on because I would be out of the home from 7 am to 7 pm from Monday to Friday and also some weekends. I knew what I could make an impact both in my community and my son’s life if I became my own boss and opened up my law firm.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As an immigrant myself I always knew i wanted to help out the immigrant community. My practice focuses on immigration law. Because I am a boutique law firm, my service is personalized and my clients can always count on speaking with me directly and having a close relationship with me, their attorney.
When I was a child my father attempted to fix our immigration status through various paralegals and attorneys who eventually just took our family’s hard earned money. I always practice with this in mind and see every one of my clients as my family. I see how hard they work for their family and to pay for my services and do my best to deliver results for them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in Whittier. I would take my friend to uptown Whittier where we can enjoy a variety of food at the Whittier Brewing Company. Coincidently my office building, The Nixon Plaza is right next door. I would also make sure we take a hike at Murphy Ranch Park and enjoy delicious frozen yogurt at Rocky’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents have always been my biggest supporters and I would be nowhere close to where i am without their sacrifices and love. Also to my husband because he put up with my law school journey and encouraged me to go off on my own.
