Meet Lulu Bailey | Actress and Film Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lulu Bailey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lulu, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My husband and I started our own film production company out of a shared commitment to creative freedom, meaningful storytelling, and building something rooted in integrity and purpose. We wanted the ability to develop bold, emotionally honest projects from the ground up—stories that challenge, inspire, and amplify underrepresented voices while still captivating audiences. More than launching a business, we set out to create a creative home and long-term legacy: a collaborative space guided by artistry, kindness, and respect, where powerful stories can flourish and our shared passion for filmmaking can grow into lasting impact.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Professionally, I am deeply engaged in both acting and filmmaking. My husband, filmmaker Bing Bailey, and I run our production company, Castle Black Pictures, where we develop projects that challenge us creatively and artistically. One of our most ambitious films in development, Fury and Foster, is a western set in the 1870s with a bold 1970s exploitation influence, inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky’s El Topo and Sergio Corbucci’s The Great Silence. I am passionate about telling stories that explore human struggle, connection, and resilience with honesty and edge, and I value being involved in the storytelling process from conception through execution.
Early professional experiences included television background on The Return of the Incredible Hulk and the original 21 Jump Street TV Series, when I was very young. Observing artists like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno amongst others left a lasting impression on my approach to professionalism and collaboration. I later trained at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin (2009–2016), and started at the bottom working my way up through stage, and film through a lot of experience, rejection, determination and a true love of what it means to be an artist of the craft. I eventually relocated to Los Angeles with my husband, where I am grateful to continue building our life together as well as my career, creating meaningful work, and collaborating closely with my husband on projects we are deeply passionate about.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles offers such a unique mix of beauty, history, and creativity, and I love sharing that with visitors. I’d start with Griffith Park Observatory for its breathtaking views of the city—it’s a place that always reminds me how magical LA can feel. Dinner at Pace in Laurel Canyon is a must for its warmth, charm, and old-Hollywood spirit, followed by a trip to Zuma Beach in Malibu for a moment of calm and perspective by the ocean. And no visit would be complete without seeing a film at the New Beverly Cinema on Beverly Boulevard, where the love of classic cinema feels alive and communal.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Much of what I do is made possible by the extraordinary people in my life. My husband, Bing, is a loving partner and gifted filmmaker whose creativity, generosity, and support ground everything. I’m deeply grateful to my mentors, Brianna Brown Keen and CSA Elizabeth Boykewich of Manifesting Your Mission and The New Hollywood, Being part of this inspiring collective of driven, creative women is both humbling and empowering.
I’m continually inspired by my wonderful friend Crystal M. Lee—an Air Force veteran, actor, entrepreneur, and devoted mother whose resilience embodies creativity in service—as well as my dear friend Akira Lee Watanabe, whose talent is matched only by her compassion and warmth. My daughter Holly remains my greatest inspiration, grounding me with her strength, humor, and moral clarity. I’m also grateful for Stefan Jacobs of Catapult Management, whose integrity, compassion, and dedication to helping others grow make him a rare and invaluable presence in this industry. And Finally Dyan Cannon and Candace Newton Chaput- whose collective friendships artistry and innate grace and generosity in how they treat everyone around them- including Dyan’s work with the Dream Center and Candace’s work with Ambassadors of Compassion is humbling and sets a high bar. I’m truly lucky to call all of them friends.
