We had the good fortune of connecting with Luke Lintott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luke, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in rural Northern California, and am proudly queer, creative and intuitive. Although I now radically love myself, this wasn’t always the case. Before accepting myself, I turned to alcohol and struggled with a problematic relationship with food, others and myself. I experienced anxiety, insomnia, and did not love the person staring back at me in the mirror. Luckily, after losing a 9-year relationship, my job, and exploring my identities, I found yoga, wellness, and a community that brought me higher.

I am so grateful that I stopped doing it alone. Over months and years of my own coaching process, I lost weight, increased muscle, and soon loved myself enough to go for my dreams in health and wellness.

And as of writing this article, I am proudly now 2 years sober. And for anyone out there that has also struggled with addiction or challenges related to self love, I want you to know there is hope. And I am committed to you!

I am also Native American (Nez Perce/Wenatchi) & White, and am 2 Spirited and Aquarius. Being a 2 Spirited Aquarius gives me the gift to connect with people during all stages of life, which is how I authentically connect with my older adult clients as well as youth in schools, and everyone in between. Since I was a child, I was always able to connect with others emotionally, which helps me serve my clients so well now as a certified counselor (M.S., PPS), yoga teacher (200 hr RYT), and personal trainer (ACE-CPT).

Getting healthy, loved and more healed is an internal process. With good reason, my unique skill set and background have empowered my clients to make permanent lifestyle changes, resulting in happiness, health, love, and success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Luke Yoga transforms bodies, minds, and lives both locally and across the globe. Through my social media outlets, I facilitate Live podcast interviews, and provide workshops and yoga/fitness demos that have gone viral. I’ve also shared my story as someone who is openly queer and has overcome issues related to self love, getting healthy, and overcoming addiction. It brings me enduring joy to receive messages from people everyday about the strong impact my work has had on their lives.

Luke Yoga also facilitates wonderful online wellness programs to get healthy, loved and more healed. Through my virtual fitness/yoga classes, hypnosis & detox programs my clients have gotten toned, lost over 30 pounds, and manifested their soulmates.

Luke Yoga provides the best yoga and personal training, and massage to individuals, which has resulted in decreased stress, improved health/longevity, and elevated mood. One of my clients came to me when she was struggling to walk. After one month of weekly yoga sessions, she regained her ability to walk, and even hike up stairs during her travels in Ireland. It brought me such great joy to see the impact my work had on her body and life.

Luke Yoga also provides the best corporate wellness for businesses, schools, and housing complexes across the region. During our recent Nordstrom wellness session, we did a hypnosis on positive vibration, and participants expressed improved camaraderie and focus. I was also so proud to see that 100% of participants would highly recommend Luke Yoga to their friends. Luckily, an increasing pool of companies now collaborate with Luke Yoga Corporate Wellness to decrease burnout, increase productivity, and improve company culture, including businesses such as Lululemon, Lotus & Luna, and Vuori Clothing.

Consistency, client referrals, and becoming visible have been critical to Luke Yoga’s success since its inception in 2019. Although it was at first challenging to go all in on my dreams, I am so grateful that I kept going. Luckily, I overcame challenges related to shame, insecurity, and self love through hypnosis, mind/body work, as well as the accountability offered by my own coaches.

Going forward, I am so excited to have an even greater impact on a global scale as I transform more bodies, minds and lives through health and wellness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
During my friend’s visit, we would watch the sunset while walking barefoot in the sand, and would also listen to great hip hop & R&B while spending time in nature. We would be sure to take many yoga and fitness classes with my favorite teachers, and also go to drag brunch in Hillcrest. I would also take them to my other favorite neighborhoods and sites, including Black’s Beach, Sunset Cliffs, Ocean Beach, and North Park.

On the weekend, we’d go out dancing, eat lots of Thai food, and spend quality time with my friends. We would go on hikes at Torrey Pines, Sunset Cliffs, and Potato Chip Rock, and get brunch at Great Maple in Hillcrest and Fig Tree Cafe in Pacific Beach. We would spend time doing meditations/hypnosis, and also go to Urban Mo’s Bar & Grill, the San Diego Zoo, and a live show at Broadway San Diego.

We would spend a self care day together, which would include getting our nails done, watching my favorite Netflix documentaries, doing face masks, and getting massages. We would spend hours catching up, and would also enjoy drinking tea and coffee together at OB Coffee Roasters and other locally owned coffee shops. We would spend quality time at markets and purchase art and clothing from local businesses and artists.

I love showing my friends and family around the city, and would be sure we both enjoy their week-long visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful for my own fitness coaches that pushed me beyond my limits in health and wellness, including individuals such as Tabu Lanier, Kelly Duong, and Katie Burke. I took my first yoga sculpt class with Kelly Duong upon moving to San Diego, and fell in love with movement as medicine. During her class, I got into flow, where success meets no resistance, and instantly became addicted to fitness, yoga, and sculpt.

Later on, while co-leading a retreat with Katie Burke in Mexico, my dream to launch my wellness business soon blossomed into a reality. During the retreat, our eye gazing, reflection, and group activities empowered me to launch Luke Yoga just one week after returning home. With our amazing community and coaches by my side, I felt unstoppable.

Last but certainly not least, I am forever grateful for my business and icon coaches, which believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, including both Emily Sussell and Asa Leveaux. I began following Emily Sussell online after I read an article she wrote about how to increase both impact and income as a yoga teacher, and later went on to work with Asa in order to become iconic in my impact in health and wellness. I am so thankful for their support and encouragement as I keep going, and transform more bodies, lives and souls through health and wellness.
