We had the good fortune of connecting with Lovely Brack, RN, BSN and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lovely, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Mother Teresa’s words, “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving,” truly capture the essence of what it means to make a meaningful impact. For me, it speaks to the heart of selfless service—reminding us that the quality of our intentions and the care behind our actions are what matter most, not just the size of the gesture. It’s not about the quantity of what you give, but the heart and thoughtfulness behind it. What I love about this affirmation is that it encourages us to approach everything with compassion and empathy, whether we’re offering material resources, time, or even just a kind word. It also challenges us to think about the value of connection—when we put love into our giving, we’re also fostering a deeper bond with those around us, building a stronger, more compassionate community. This quote resonates with the work we’re doing at From Our Hearts Chicago; it aligns perfectly with your mission!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The organization, led by Lovely Brack, RN, BSN, and Candice Williams, has been a consistent and compassionate presence in the lives of those facing the harshest realities in the city. By focusing on providing essential resources and support to individuals experiencing homelessness, From Our Hearts Chicago not only addresses immediate needs but also helps to restore dignity, hope, and a sense of community to those often overlooked.

The core of From Our Hearts Chicago’s work lies in their “LOVE BAGS” program, which distributes critical items like food, toiletries, outerwear, and toys to homeless individuals throughout Chicago. These tangible items serve as lifelines for people on the streets, offering comfort and practical support in the face of adversity. The organization’s commitment to delivering these services year-round reflects their deep empathy and understanding of the ongoing struggles faced by the homeless community.

What sets From Our Hearts Chicago apart is their holistic approach to community cultivation. They don’t just provide material aid; they seek to foster human connection and show individuals that they are seen, valued, and cared for. The act of giving is done with love and respect, reinforcing the idea that the homeless are not just recipients of charity but are part of the larger fabric of the community. Through this work, From Our Hearts Chicago has become a beacon of kindness and generosity, offering not only physical resources but also emotional support and a sense of belonging.

The leadership of Lovely Brack and Candice Williams is central to the organization’s success. Their shared vision of a better, happier world has inspired countless volunteers, donors, and partners to join their cause. Together, they have created an organization that is built on the principles of compassion, integrity, and community. 100% of donations are used directly to fund their projects, ensuring that every contribution goes toward making a meaningful difference in the lives of the homeless.

From Our Hearts Chicago also works tirelessly to build relationships with the broader Chicagoland community, encouraging people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference. Their efforts to mobilize volunteers and collaborate with other local organizations create a network of support that extends far beyond the streets. By bringing people together—whether it’s through donating items, volunteering time, or offering financial support—From Our Hearts Chicago fosters a spirit of unity and shared responsibility, which is key to transforming the community.
