Meet Lindsay Cunningham | Family & Motherhood Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Cunningham, owner of Among the Wildflowers Photography and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was really struggling mentally during the shelter in place stage of the pandemic. My husband gifted me a camera on Christmas of 2020 and I dove into learning how to use it and mastering my manual settings. I started with a friend’s maternity session and from there asked people to model for me. I spent hours and hours learning how to edit. I felt myself come alive. I felt inspired, creative, curious and happy, and I knew I had found my passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel that my creativity sets me apart from others. Not at all to say that others aren’t creative, but that I have my own unique eye and vision that helps me to create my images.

I believe I’ve gotten to where I am today because I am passionate and driven, and because I prioritize a fun and easy experience for my clients. I want them to love the process of getting photos taken as much as the photos themselves.

It wasn’t easy to get to where I am today because as a solo small business owner, I’ve had to teach myself so many different skills. Beyond the creative side of what I do, I’ve had the challenge of learning marketing, website design, social media management, bookkeeping and a host of other things. Also balancing my time as a wife and mother with my work as a photographer proves to be a constant battle.

Along the way, I’ve learned to trust my gut and not to pursue projects that don’t vibe with my style or my personality. I’ve discovered that my heart for photography is with expecting mamas and families and that the world does have a place for my art and my talents.

I want the world to know that Among the Wildflowers Photography is a safe landing place for you to be who you are and create memories. I will always be here to encourage you and guide you and help your best self shine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well this question is easy because my best friend has visited here from out of state and I took her to two of my favorite places in Southern California – Malibu and Laguna Beach. We ate fresh seafood and Mexican cuisine, looked at art, and went roller skating. We splashed in the surf and marveled at the wild beauty of the West Coast beaches.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband deserves a shout out for starting me on my journey and always encouraging me and holding down the fort while I’m working. He had accompanied me on adventures to Joshua Tree and Yosemite and loves to see me pursuing my dreams.
