Meet Lindsay Chango: Colorist & Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Chango and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Early in life I always was creative, I loved anything with bright colors, anything I could do with my hands! I don’t think I really ever thought I’d make it in a creative lifestyle until living in San Diego, taking an apprenticeship for hairstyling. Seeing the action in the salon and how happy everyone was being in this environment thats meant to create beauty, it was happiness I haven’t felt before. Still to this day every time I am finishing a clients hair I feel this overwhelming joy that literally forces me to dance around my chair all excited to show my client her new do! There’s nothing like it I swear.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is your hair, everyday I take your inspiration, ideas and dreams, and do my very best to make them reality. This past year has been a rollercoaster to say the least, coming out of cosmetology school you don’t expect to be thrown right into the relay world of hair, but it’s AMAZING! I don’t think anything is necessarily easy, however it is always worth it. Years ago I started an apprenticeship in San Diego that ended up falling through, leaving me kind of confused on what to do. So I started over, Graduated cosmetology from Aveda Institute NYC, found a job as an assistant and in a short 5 months was moved to my very own chair, like everything suddenly was falling into place! I’ve since left that salon and am currently at Just A Touch Hair Lounge in Manalapan New Jersey. However I service the NJ & NY Area. I get to study my art every single day in a beautiful environment with awesome TALENTED individuals! The most important thing to remember is the be EVER CHANGING! Don’t get so comfortable that you think there isn’t something else for you to learn or grow, and everyday is a chance to do just that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My go to stop would always be Pacific beach, there’s nothing I loved more than living by the beach, making my morning stop to get breakfast burritos! I love to cruise the Main Street, Garnet and stop in the local bars.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I don’t think I’d be anywhere without my supportive friends and family, always believing in me and pushing me to accomplish anything I dream!
