We had the good fortune of connecting with Lina Saba and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ever since we purchased our home about 12 years ago I fell in love with the process and wanted to become a realtor. After having a long career as a stay at home mom, being married for 16 years, and now that my children have gotten older it was finally time to make the career move to Real Estate. My sister was a big driver behind my decision to start an entrepreneurial business,. Immediately after my I got my Real Estate license, I was able to help my sister fulfill her dream of buying a home on her own. Helping families is what inspires me on a daily basis!

When you become an independent realtor, you have no choice but to create a business and a brand for yourself. I’m very aligned with what Compass stands for, especially the tech side, and I find myself finding ways to create a differentiator amongst the other Real Estate agents in the industry.

You will find when you work with me, I bring a unique value to the table (whether it be the kitchen table, dining room table, and/or coffee table). Recently while helping my last client fix her garbage disposal, fridge, and closet, I realized that my experience of being a stay at home professional and a few YouTube tutorials has really helped me become an experienced project manager. These skills allow me to go above and beyond when helping clients. When projects become out of my realm of responsibility, I bring on my team of trusted resources to get the job done!

Living by the mantra “where there is will there is a way” I am able to create an experience for my clients that they can share with their family and friends. Combining my hospitality background, techie skills, resourceful attitude, and disciplined spirit makes for a fulfilling life!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a big nerd at heart and love technology. I love knowing the latest features and love to share those features. You will find a Tuesday tech tip from me on my instagram page Lina_N_Houzz. You can now find my tech tips on my new YouTube channel, Tech Tips with Lina (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt_Llg-2qokepjPTR3wT-uA) I like to share tech tips for my fellow realtors, however anyone can use them and apply them to their fields.

You will find a lot of ways to connect with me and my business as I have many passions. I love house music specifically, I like to share a “song of the day” on my instagram page to help expand everyone’s musical palette. For the last 20 years I have always had a knack for curating great House/EDM music playlists. If you can remember CDs, I would create mixes and give them out to my friends. I have had the nickname DJ Lina amongst my friends and this year am starting to get close to making that nickname a reality. I recently acquired a DJ controller and set up to play at home and have started taking lessons to learn how to DJ as well. Who knows you may find me playing at an open house…

You may also find me practicing yoga on the beach, in the weight room at the gym or taking a bootcamp style class. Although my running days are over for the most part, I am happy to do a 5k for a cause. I love listening to audiobooks, sharing book recommendations, and cooking new recipes. We are so fortunate to be in San Diego and so I try to take advantage of our beautiful city and do as much as possible. Life is short and you have to make the most of it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First things first vacation or not we have to start the day at NXPT in Kearny Mesa for a great bootcamp style class. Then we would grab a cup of coffee at none other than Better Buzz. If it’s a Tuesday or Thursday we can also catch a yoga class on the beach at 9am with Yoga Steve down in Pacific Beach on Law St. If you miss a class you can catch it on his youTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/namasteveyoga). Then we can hang out at the beach for a little while. After that we can grab lunch a the Mad Beet at 933 Garnet Ave. Later we check out Balboa Park and have dinner at one of my favorite sushi spots called Full Moon downtown San Diego.

In order to get results you have to keep your body guessing so we start the following day Friday with another workout and use classPass to try a new location like F45 or Barry’s Bootcamp. Then grab a nice breakfast at Breakfast Republic or Crushed on Garnet. Then head up to do a hike at the Torrey Pines beach trail followed by dinner at the Lot in La Jolla so you could enjoy dinner and a movie.

Saturdays begin with Body Pump with Megan at the Y. We can hang out with friends and chat at Cafe Bassam’s or Cafe Calabria in North Park. Then we could check out Mission Beach and Belmont park, walk down to play some beach volleyball. Later we could have a nice dinner at Azuki or Hane sushi in Banker’s hill. Then we would try to catch a great DJ like James Hype at Nova.

On Sunday we would need to head over to Little Italy. We could do a whole day there, start with coffee at Caffe Italia, Have lunch at Cafe Gratitude and dinner at Cloak and Petal. Then on the last night we would definitely try to catch a comedy show, with a local comic like Josh Nelson at PB Backyard Comedy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Richard Elias, Mora Sepehrnia, Paul Przybyla, Martha Blanco, Lisa Lozoya-Purcell (team leader) just to name a few agents with COMPASS that have really been there for me as I started my new Real Estate business. Their kindness, support, and expertise really helped me to deliver exceptional service to my clients.
