Meet Lilli Morgan & Savannah Duren | Co-Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lilli Morgan & Savannah Duren and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lilli Morgan & Savannah Duren, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
At the end of our careers, we want to have built a company and a brand that represents meaningful, quality work and has created unique and beautiful atmospheres to help improve the lives of others. On top of that, we want to enjoy every step of the way and accomplish things that genuinely make us happy! This past year, one of our favorite projects was a kitchen in Portland, Oregon- we were actually able to travel on site and see this amazing historic home in person before beginning the project. It was after that project that we knew we wanted to make travel and projects outside of San Diego a priority for our long term goals, and would love to do a project in another country if the opportunity presents itself! We are also in the process of adding our first team member and at the end of our career, we hope to have multiple studios across the country with large teams that manage highly creative projects.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LS Design Studio is a full-service Interior Design firm focusing on large-scale remodels, kitchen and bathroom renovations, and full home furnishings. LS aims to strike a perfect balance between function and form and places high value on doing things outside the box. Although San Diego is our home base, we welcome projects nationwide and our organized client process ensures an enjoyable experience from our first meeting to the last accessory. What sets us apart is that we are not just creatives, we are highly organized and love the systems and processes that carry into the client experience. Sometimes, making the process seamless and easy for our clients is just as satisfying as creating a beautiful space! We got here by taking a huge risk in the peak of Covid, leaving our full time design jobs to pursue our own business- we went from primarily design work to starting a an entire business from scratch. It has definitely not been easy, but we would not change a thing! I would say our biggest challenge at this point in our business is learning to step back and take time away every once in a while- we both treat this business like our baby and put so much focus and energy into making sure we succeed that sometimes we forget to take a deep breath! Most days, we forget that what we’re doing is considered work- we absolutely love our jobs and do our very best to make sure that translates into every aspect of our business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s hope they appreciate good design because we’ve got a whole day of visually inspiring places lined up! Our ideal day starts off in Encinitas- first, we would eat a delicious breakfast at Waverly (designed by Design 4 Corners.) The entire restaurant is perfection but our personal favorite part is shockingly, the bathroom! Seriously, do not leave without checking it out. Next, we would drive down the coast to The Tile Collective in Solana Beach- they have an unbeatable selection of hidden gem tiles that you have probably never seen before. After drooling over tile, we would head back to Encinitas, pop into Hart & Honey for some incredible home decor then grab a drink at Death by Tequila where we would continue to obsess over tile. Next up, we’d head to Consignment Classics, our go-to for antique and vintage accessories and furniture- be prepared for a treasure hunt! Finally, we would finish off the night with a nice dinner at Herb & Sea (designed by Bells & Whistles)- their light fixtures and wine cellar wall are to die for. Our ideal day always has a little something to do with design and we love to immerse ourself into the community and support local businesses while we’re at it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Starting LS Design Studio was a really big step for both of us and we could not have done it without the support of our family and friends. We also want to thank our clients who have taken a chance on us and allowed us to help transform their spaces! Starting a business can feel overwhelming and scary but we’re so thankful to have had a lot of help from friends and family who want to see us succeed.
