Meet Liam Lark | Owner of Mr. Backflow Company

We had the good fortune of connecting with Liam Lark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liam, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
In the world we live in today, it may seem like everyone and everything is against you. For a small business in California, the Government, State Authority, Business Services and even other businesses are all out to take their cut of the pie of your income and profit. Deciding whether to keep going or pivoting from your small business can be a tough call. Some keys things we found in fighting the good fight for your business and vision is to reflect on key factors:
Evaluate your finances. How is your cash flow? Are you consistently able to cover your expenses and still have some left over? If you’re always struggling, it might be a sign to rethink. Make sure you keep very detailed records of all income and expenses. Check if your business is making a profit or if you’re constantly in the red.
Get customer feedback. Do your customers love what you’re offering? Positive reviews and repeat business indicate that you’re on the right track. Are your customers referring their personal contacts to you? Is there a consistent demand for your products or services, or is it dwindling?
Reflect on your personal fulfillment. Are you still passionate about your business? If the excitement has fizzled out, it will likely affect your performance. Consider your mental and physical health. Is running your business causing you constant stress? And the biggest question to answer — Do you have mentors or a support network to help you through tough times?
Also, depending on the niche that you are in, evaluate your market conditions. We ask ourselves basic questions. Is the market for your product or service growing or shrinking? Are you keeping up with or outpacing your competitors? Are your team members motivated and aligned with your vision?
Take some time to reflect on these areas. Sometimes a change in strategy or a fresh perspective can reignite your business. And remember, reaching out for advice or mentorship can offer valuable insights. Keep going if the fire is still there, but don’t be afraid to pivot if that’s what’s best for you.
Above all have unwavering faith that you will succeed.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our business wouldn’t exist without my wonderful wife, business partner, and levelheaded mentor that is always in my corner, whether we are having a good day or getting bombed in the trenches of business.
Additionally, I would love to give God all the credit for everything our business has and will obtain in the future. For all that we receive and strive for comes from his hands. With that being said, I give a big shout out to Awaken Church Bressi Ranch. They have an amazing business mentorship program for guiding Christian family businesses and raising up business owners that help each other grow in the marketplace and take territory for the Kingdom of God.
